Welch: Colapietro should be rattled

Press release from Jason Welch, the Republican candidate for state Senate in the 31st District:
Jason Welch, the Republican nominee for State Senate from the 31st District, assured voters that in today’s day and age when candidates for office, both Republicans and Democrats, are often fighting and bickering over the issues he has found common ground with his Democratic opponent, Tom Colapietro. Welch said, “I agree with Senator Colapietro, he has been there too long.”
Welch made his remarks following a recent news story in The Bristol Press where Senator Colapietro stated that “I’ve been there so long that nothing rattles me anymore." While the Republican nominee agrees with Colapietro on the length of his tenure, he is baffled by the Senator’s comments.
“Nothing rattles him anymore?” Welch continued, “Unemployment is nearing 10% in Connecticut and that doesn’t rattle the Senator? We had to borrow almost $1 billion to pay current expenses. Homes are being foreclosed at a dramatic rate not only in Connecticut but in Bristol. Businesses are closing their doors or moving down south and these things do not rattle the Senator?”
As the next State Senator, Welch pledged to not only get “rattled” by the above mentioned problems in Connecticut but to roll up his sleeves and work with all parties to find a solution to Connecticut’s fiscal crisis and work to increase jobs here in Connecticut.
“If the time comes when people are losing their homes and jobs and our state is in financial crisis and that doesn’t rattle me, then it will be the time for me to leave the Senate and allow new blood and new ideas to pave the way for Connecticut’s future,” Welch concluded.

Outstanding! I am voting for YOU JASON WELCH and encourage everyone to do the same. Enough of this guy Colopinto who apparently does not get it nor does he care.

Anonymous said...

a GREAT BIG thumbs up for this guy .

Anonymous said...

Who is Tom Colapietro? I have never seen him at my door asking for my vote.

Anonymous said...

Colapietro is just a mean old man

PAC said...

When is tommy going to debate this guy JASON WELCH

Anonymous said...

Yeah, good job, Jason... saying nothing of substance AGAIN. What a stupid reply made to a comment taken totally out of context. What happens after you "roll up your sleeves"? What's your agenda, what's your plan? We need more before we will vote for you. Why don't you get in there and debate Colapietro? I might not care much for the man's (apparently new) toupee, but I assure you that he will have more to say than what you can fit on your billboards.

Jason: You pledge to roll up your sleeves and "work with all parties" to find a solution to CT's fiscal problems. Please give us some examples of where you have worked successfully with people that you strongly disagreed with, and still achieved results.

And Colapietro has the nerve to say that he is one of us. He is asleep at the wheel. Jason is a breath of fresh air and the most viable candidate to run against Colapietro who seems to have checked out and is out of touch with the very folks he thinks he is one of.

I'm impressed. I'm a democrat, but Mr. Welch has my vote and word on the street is that I'm not alone. We need someone who's going to get rattled, not stumble along in a self-induced coma like Mr. Colapietro.

Vote Jason Welch!

Go back to Torrington Jason before the ghost come out!!!

I agree. I am a life long Democrat and I am voting all Republican this time around. The more I read stuff and look at the State website - the Unions are killing this state's economy. I see that are government keeps growing at a record pace - and its all Union jobs! Come on people wake up! I have!

Anonymous said...

Go teaparty Welch . I guess you and your Republican cronies can't keep saying the same old rhetoric without saying what and who you republicans and Welch with cuts. I guess they found him to be just like the rest. No guts to say anything but the same old garbage. No wonder he won't rattle.

Anonymous said...

I urge you all to look honestly at what Welch and his Republicans have done at all!

Anonymous said...

Oh boy more I am great press releases that say nothing but what he is told.

Anonymous said...

So he's going to make sure that he'll devastate and lose more homes and jobs?

Republican for Colapietro said...

Welch might be saying the right things as far as the state issues go, but Tom is still one of us!

This year I will be voting for my friend Tom Colapietro.

Sounds like an Art Mocabee speech

Makes sense to me that Colapietro is not rattled. Eventually cockroaches develop an immunity to certain pesticides, same theory.

Time to fumigate the LOB. Let Jason have a chance at representing us, God knows Tommy Boy represented only the interests of his leadership.

Time for change, change, change... and not the kind Obama brought into office with him.

How come he isn't rattled when the insurance industry which he is a claims adjuster caused all this stuff not a Senator. Glad he will fix all this global stuff as a Senator. Who'e he trying to kid? Just another wannabe pretty boy republican.

Anonymous said...

Oh just like your Republican counterpart McMahon!!! She's going to stomp her feet and scream & holler at the Capital, AND YOU KNOW WHAT PEOPLE ARE GOING TO SAY?! “Shut up and sit down!” lol. NO ONE responds to yelling, finger pointing and demands especially from a new comer, man or woman. A new kid like him isn’t going to get ANYTHING done!! He sounds pretty smug about getting it all done by himself. Gee, isn’t this the first time he’s ever even run for office? FIRST time and you know and can do it all…suuuure! Lol. He must get that smug attitude about being able to dictate to people from being an insurance agent. Lol.

Time for tom to go hes like the chief . Collecting a paycheck.

" I have been there so long" Tom Colapietro is one of Bristol's best assets because the Capitol works on a seniority system and he is also in the majority party. Influence we will lose if we elect Mr. Welch.

Anonymous said...

Tom has been able to say ANYTHING and still get re-elected. That is about to change. We need people in Hartford who care and will do the work to get things right again.

Anonymous said...

Nothing rattles Colapietro. He is unflappable!

Oh wait, this article isn't referring to his hair?

Sorry, my bad.

Anonymous said...

I would much rather have a person that dose not get rattled when things get crazy. I also like the fact that someone representing me understands the sting of being out of work and having a wife and kids to take care of.

Anonymous said...

New blood? Certainly not yours kid! I'd rather have someone who has taken part in the political process in some way, shape or form then you! Is it true you drink tea? Coffee too strong for you?

Anonymous said...

12:15 If he knew who you were he probably wouldn't want it. And you jerks think your the pillars of the community ? LMAO

Anonymous said...

Blah, Blah, Blah you clowns never learn and it's a good thing we don'[t know you we'd be bored to death . Nothing is ever new from you. Nobody believes your lies any more.

Anonymous said...

Still waiting for Tom's plan on the budget and getting this economy going again...Maybe Tom has a website that spells it out....

Anonymous said...

First let me say I personally like Tom Colapietro. He's a good guy.

But O-Dumb, when have the Dumb-o-crats actually worked with anyone they've diagreed with and achived "results"? What left-leaning policy of theirs (which are actually all the Democrat policies) have they "achieved" without hammering it through with their overwelming majorities?

O-Dumb: When are you going to wake up and/or smarten up and realize the Connecticut Democrat party (controlled almost entirely today by public labor unions) have all but flushed Connecticut down the toilet.

Now go back to college (or high school) and take some business courses, instead of public administration (aka basket weaving) like your two liberal union stooge buddies (you know who I'm talking about).

Anonymous said...

a vote for colapietro is like a vote for obama. have you learned your lesson yet????

VOTE FOR JASON WELCH

Anonymous said...

Let's see...

Uneducated union thug who sells out for votes over and over and over.

vs

Anyone but him.

I would vote for anyone but him.

Good thing the GOP put up a great candidate this time around. Welch all the way! Cya Tommie boi!

Anonymous said...

"taken out of context"...what a joke! Colopinto needs to be taken out of context...he just doesn't care and he CERTAINLY IS NOT ONE OF US...he is one of those UNIONITES who have a warpped sence of entitlement.

Vote JASON WELCH...he IS one of us!

Anonymous said...

10:34 We already know that so tell us something new! You can't ..............duh!

Anonymous said...

Steve are you favoring Welch with his picture ? How come it didn't move down like all the rest? This is turning into a Republican blog!

Anonymous said...

Truth is he says he grew up poor? How come he never attended a pulic school? OKent school for boys ? That's poor? Bought a mantion and is a insurance claims adjuster NOT a pracyicing Laywer either.....More to come while you idiots continue your lying old ways. He's starting to fit right in with you idiots. I thought he was at least a decent but if he's lke you........wow

Anonymous said...

Even Ward doesn't like Colapietro

Anonymous said...

I talked to Colapietro about his rattle position and he said it was just another way to try to make him look bad. After talking to him he explained to me that "they " have been saying the same old stuff about and nothing THEY say rattles him anymore. Nothing to do with Welch's song and dance. I read the article and I believehim. I urge everyone to read what he said and meant. Just another republican ploy to make the Deomocrats look bad.

Anonymous said...

All that hope and change we were promised never happened. Now, the only change we've got left is in our pockets. Time to stop hoping they're going to make things change and do it ourselves - Vote for Jason Welch!

Anonymous said...

"We aren't as dumb as you think. You will see that at the poles."

Nuff said?

...and you say we're idiots?

Once again, Tommie's supporters continue to dazzle us with their brilliance! LMAO!

One more reason why I'm voting for Jason Welch.

I just got around to reading the comments here quickly. I thought it was clear in the story, but I do want to emphasize that Colapietro's comment about not getting rattled referred directly to the barbs and zingers that Republicans toss at him.

8:50 -- He said what he said TO ME. I know the context. You don't.

I'm glad you cleared that up. In other words guys like you wierdo liars don't scare him with your old rhetoric. Thanks for clearing that up even though they try to twist everything.

Anonymous said...

They knew what he meant!

Anonymous said...

What's this kid holding behind his back?? A GPS TO FIND HIS WAY AROUND BRISTOL? lol. Like he knows what Bristol needs after living here ONE MONTH in Geo. Carpenter’s ESTATE?! That's the typical superior, elitist Republican attitude. The working class doesn't need any more of THAT!

Anonymous said...

Typical Republican. They have to twist EVERYTHING to make themselves sound like they really care and can change the world. lol. They have NO CLUE WHAT THE WORKING CLASS NEEDS! This guy is some elitist who wants to “rule”. Did you hear whose ESTATE he bought?

Anonymous said...

I think it's relevant to check and see if Welch actually got a full scholarship to The Kent School. Perhaps he had to work to "help pay the (tuition) bills" 9as he states in his mailing)?

Or is he another condescending elitist like Trust Fund TJ?

AnonymousWestconnStudent said...

Anyone who has been around Tom knows the context steve. Thank you for reminding the idiots on here of that.

It's ironic that the people who bitch the most on here about Bristol being left behind want to elect a Republican who will DO NOTHING for this city because he will be IN THE MINORITY!

Sure glad we're gonna trade the guy who actually does stuff for us for the corporate suit that won't do anything.

Classic case of going for the shiny object. Sheesh!

Anonymous said...

"Just another republican ploy to make the Democrats look bad"

Sweetheart, the republicans don't need a "ploy." Obama and the democrats have made looking bad their profession.

Time for a change - Jason Welch!

Anonymous said...

We've had Mr. Working Class himself too long. What has he done to turn this state around.

Keep taxing and spending. It is going to dry up. We need a plan to curb spending. If something doesn't change all of the state workers and unions will have nothing. IT is simply impossible to keep going the way we are. We have no choice but to change. We need new leadership desperately.

Before you start hammering me - full disclosure - I am a state worker. I am an unaffiliated. I have voted both ways. I gave furlough days and took a pay freeze. We do work very hard despite what some people say, but we have to be realistic. At the present rate, there is no possible way to fund pensions or health care for all state workers entering retirement. We need a plan. We need something fair. I simply do not trust Tom any longer. As strange as this sounds, we need someone who is not going to give in and who will be reasonable. Me and my co-workers all know we have great benefits and get compensated well. We work hard for it though.

I would rather see this issue addressed sooner rather than later or we will end up bankrupt and with nothing.

I have spoken to Jason he seems reasonable and intelligent. I plan to vote for him this time.

The comments in this blog showed, once more, that republicans are rattled by Tom...never mind the pretty boy's picture...

most people don't care about how pretty you are but, what good can you do for us in this City...

Anonymous said...

Still running scared! Dems are on the ropes. Tommie Boi doesn't have his funding yet. Tommie Boi is on the hook for being antibusiness over and over again. And to top it all off he wears an awful toupe.

Anonymous said...

Oh, I almost forgot. He is anti- death penalty.

Plus he has a moustache! Can't trust him with fake hair and a soup strainer like that!

Anonymous said...

10:19 We can in fact trust him. We know who we are dealing with. And what kind of person are you? why should we trust a no (face) (no name) thing like you who only can make fun of others looks. Are you a pretty boy like your candidate?

Anonymous said...

10:19 are you jealous cause children like you can only grow peach fuzz? Oh I forgot you have no face, can't grow anything/

Anonymous said...

7:26 PM,

Are we reading the same blog? The comments on the one I'm reading show that maybe it's time for Tommie to start getting rattled. The republicans have a solid candidate in Mr. Welch and we the people are poor, sick and tired of waiting for all that change we've been promised. Time for us to make our own change! Jason Welch fits the bill.

Anonymous said...

3:14 Look at who you would trust our state with. People like you and those republicans on this blog. Then we really have reason to leave this state. Hitler lost when he tried to rule the world. When will you learn? America is for all of us NOT just for people like you. It's really a good thing we are tollerant of people like you or you would probably be beheaded when and if they could find you.

Anonymous said...

to 10:19 you phonies trid that bull on him before! How many people have been put to death ? How many lawyers get rich on the system as it is ? LOL you guys are the scared desperate ones.

Hey, Anonymous (or should I say, "Alex"?):

Blah, blah, blah. Answer my question. Jason promises to "work with all parties" to find solutions. I want to know if he has ever done this. I think that's a fair question. Or is he just another wannabe who will say anything to get elected?

Anonymous said...

Tommy's seniority argument makes no sense. Why would we want his kind of "clout" if it is used to bankrupt the state? It's time for Tommy to go. Vote for Jason Welch.

Anonymous said...

I don't want a State Senator to do something for the City. I care about what a State Senator won't do to us.

What a joke this guy is!!! lol. He has NEVER had anything to do with the political process and he claims as one person he can "fix" government! What a fool he is to even think he can change things as only ONE of 180 something legislators. He's obviously unglued!!! lol. But that's the TEA Party for you, yes folks, he's TEA Party.

O-Dumb: You need only to look in the mirror to see a "wanna-be". Quite possibly in your case it's "I wanna-be the USSR".

I'm not going to defend Jason Welch and to be frankly if it wasn't for irritating hacks like you I might have actually voted rfor my friend Tom Colapietro (although I seldom agree with the way he votes). But your question is just political hyperbole and anyone with any common sense can see though you (who ever you are).

Tom Colapietro will probably win and we'll probably have a Democrat Governor. The best the CT GOP will probably get is taking a few seats back in the Legislature. But the rest of the country is another story. The neo-socilaist policies of the Obama administration are 40 something days closer to a mandate of repeal. Businesses and jobs will move from CT to more business freindly states like Texas and Missippi. The Democrats will hold Connecticut due to the fact that 33% are state dependents and the government sector is rich and enormous. Wake me up when it's over.

Anonymous said...

lol. You DON"T want a State Senator who'll do something for Bristol???!! Well then vote for this Republican kid because he WON’T do a thing for Bristol!!! lol.

Anonymous said...

Oh yeah?!?!?

I actually have more than peach fuzz. I shave everyday! In fact sometimes twice a day!

LMAO read what you have to say and that's why Tom has to stay. BTW who's Tom's partner? His wife? You gonna pick on his family too?

Most of the posts by supporters of Good old Tom just don't make any sense. If you are happy with the state of affairs in CT. Vote for good old Tom. If you are concerned like I am about the heavy bonding debt The bloated cost of government, one party control of the legislature and unchecked union influence then you will vote for Jason Welch, a breath of fresh air in the political arena. It's time for a change in Hartford. No he can't do it himself, so that is good reason to vote for the entire Republican ticket, Peter Delmaestro, Jill Fitzgerald and Whit Betts. Together they can make a difference.
