Green power for Bristol, candidate says

Press release from Kevin Fuller, a Democratic City Council candidate in the 1st District:

Think Bigger
After I was endorsed for Bristol City Council in District 1, I received many suggestions for my campaign from local residents, some I knew and some I have yet to meet. More than a few said to me, “When you get elected, what are you going to do for me?” Even though I know some were said in jest, it did make me think that we need to think bigger, we need to change the mindset to start the recovery process in Bristol. We need to be posing the question, “What are we going to do for Bristol?” We need to leave the ‘What’s in it for me’ mindset of the past and change to the bigger and better picture of getting Bristol back to being a strong city. I have proposed the use of wind power to start this process. The new towers that have been designed to replace the big propeller types are safer, more efficient and much quieter. We need to pursue this green technology for the new school on Chippens Hill as well as looking into solar power. If we don’t leave our comfort zone and leap into the future we will be left behind. I want Bristol to be a leader in green technology, let’s have the other cities and towns come to us to see how it should be done. To do this we need to act now. So when you see me on the street and want to stop and chat for a minute, let’s not talk about the old thinking of ‘what are you doing for me’ let’s pull together and think BIG and ask “WHAT ARE WE DOING FOR BRISTOL?”

Hmmm...are there any un-endorsed candidates also running in the first district?

Didn't Bob Merrick talk about this 2 years ago. Gill wants organic and sustainable solutions - is this Fuller guy an Elephant in Donkey's clothing?

8 uses of either "I" or "me" in reference to himself. And last I checked, Chippen's Hill is in the Second District - of course he wants to put these things there, away from his back-yard and his constituents. Sounds like a lot of hot air.

You get what you pay for.

Look at the whole slate, r's and d's, and you'll see very little to encourage you.

Actually, they tend to make Ward look good by comparison

Hey Kevin - heres a better idea. Why don't you think about solutions for the folks in your district that are facing hardship from losing jobs, or the elderly and the closing of the Wellness Center. What are your ideas on Senior housing and what the future should look like in Bristol for 55 and over living areas? Which Bristol is lacking. What is it with these guys that get in and they think they are running for a Federal position! Its City Councilman!

Hmmm anonymous why dont you do some looking around the city to see where wind power would work, seems to me that in district 1 we dont have a area high enough to capture wind like chippens and willis st and south mountain,so why would Fuller push to spend money where it wouldnt make sense so if Merrick talked about it 2 years ago where is the towers oh there are none just more hot air so I support the efforts of Fuller putting towers where the wind is blowing and saving the city money so we can close the budget gap

Hey Kevin

Are you aware that there is a city ENERGY COMMITTEE?

STORTZ FOR MAYOR 2009

Kevin was at the Mayor's Energy Task Force meeting this week, and he presented his idea.

Think GREEN ...... Abolish the lawn regulations that are doing so much damage to the environment .

One hour of lawn mowing pollutes the environment as much as driving 1000 miles in my S.U.V.

As long as this anti-environment lawn regulation remains in effect , I feel absolutely no guilt about cruising Bristol in my S.U.V.

So, we are putting the towers outside of your house or City Hall? There seems to be a ton of hot air and wind blowing from both locations

Kevin came out of the woodwork at election time, just like Gill did.

Don'tthese people realize that government is a 24/7 operation?

Like Gill, has Kevin taken part in any city functions???

I've got to say that I find all of you anonymous writers pathetic. Its easy to criticize someone when you dont even have enough of a set to come forward yourselves. Do any of you even attend the council meetings and try to make Bristol a better place? I didnt think so. And for you 2:39 and 7:08, what difference does it make as to which district the wind turbines would be located in? Why don't we care about helping everyone in Bristol?

Dear Anomymous 5:30, I have to say that I have seen Fuller at the finance board meetings the City Council meetings and at last weeks energy meeting, and at the March DTC meeting he announced his plans to run for council so get your facts right Fuller unlike Gill did not just come out of the woodwork

Who is Gill???

How about just turning off some of the lights and putting other things on timers?

Some aren't even critical, and savings are immediate.

Unfortunately 6:24, as soon as you turn that light off and some kid wraps his car around a pole or falls off his bike in the dark, they'll be looking to sue the City for shutting off the light. It's defintely cheaper to keep the lights on...
