Larson to give national radio speech on Saturday

Press release from U.S. Rep. John Larson, the East Hartford Democrat whose district includes Bristol:

Congressman John Larson of Connecticut, Vice Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, will deliver the Democratic Radio Address tomorrow.  In his address, Congressman Larson will discuss energy legislation the New Direction Congress will bring forward to combat rising energy and gas prices and to ensure our energy independence.

WHO:          Congressman John Larson (CT-1)

WHAT:         Weekly Democratic Radio Address

WHEN:         Saturday, September 6, 2008 – 11:06 a.m. (EST)

WHERE:       Major radio networks, including AP, ABC, NPR, CBS Radio, CNN Radio, Fox News Radio, C-SPAN, Armed Forces Radio Network, American Urban Radio Network, Voice of America Radio Network, BBC Radio, CBC Radio, and Australian Broadcasting Corporation

Below are unembargoed excerpts for immediate release:

“For eight years, two oilmen in the White House have crafted this country’s energy policy.

“Barack Obama summed up our sentiment on this Bush-McCain policy, in one word: enough!

““Democrats support drilling, but a ‘drill only’ plan would do nothing but drill deeper and deeper into your wallet. And look, while the oil companies have remained flush, your wallet is running dry…

When we return to Washington next week, the Democratic Congress under the leadership of Speaker Nancy Pelosi will put forward a comprehensive, bipartisan energy plan that puts us on the path toward reaching our energy goals.…

“We will vote on legislation that actually does something to lower the price you pay at the pump.…

“We will consider responsibly opening portions of the Outer Continental Shelf for drilling while demanding that Big Oil companies use the leases they have already been issued or return them to the public. …

“We need to address our future energy needs with a federal renewable electricity standard consisting of alternative forms of energy, including natural gas, solar power, wind, biomass and geothermal power and fuel cells.

“Democrats in Congress and Barack Obama believe that we need to put Americans first by putting them to work in a green economy.

“With the strength and ingenuity of the American people, we can propel ourselves toward an energy independent future.

Oh now Larson is for Drilling after stonewalling it forever? The Heavens opened and he saw the light? Please, the monday morning quarterback is getting his keister kicked with Obama and Pelosi because they oppose drilling and have blocked putting it on the Agenda. Too late Johnny Boy you cant have it both ways, you opposed the surge and drilling and were wrong both times. Putting people to work in the Green Economy? You mean like Money Green? LOL

7:35 - wow, that really sounds like support for a continuation of the last 8 years which did nothing but cause us to lose esteem throughout the world, lessen the value of the American dollar world-wide, create a tax burden for generations to come, cost the lives of and the quality of lives for countless American veterans whose patriotism was abused by a self-serving administration, line the pockets of countless republican monetary supporters of one of the most INEFFICIENT, SELF-SERVING BEAURACIES THAT THIS COUNTRY HAS EVER SEEN.
Shame on all of you naive and/or ignorant, stupid idiots who cannot see the demise of this country if this type of whore-mongering is allowed to continue.
Come to the realization that it will be your children, grandchildren, relatives and friends who will be saddled with the burden of being accountable for the self-serving practices of these miserly, abusive, self-serving republican beauracrats - bush, cheny, name them all - they should all be incarcerated for the level of burdens which they have left to our future generations - a complete legacy of failure!

The Vice President's name is spelled Cheney. The last eight years have been a failure? In what way? Higher taxes? If so, that would be because of the Dem majorities in Hartford and Washington. President Bush kept the war on terror off our shores and restored morality to the Oval Office... two fairly big accomplishments when you think of where we were before.
How about some respect and gratitude?

Thank you, 8:26 PM!

Very well stated, and I might add this G"W"B administration is so delusional they don't think they've done anything wrong.

During the infancy of this country, these criminals would have been dragged out in the street then tarred and feathered in public.

Oh, how I long for the good ol' days!

10:36 = lying to the country about the existence of "weapons of mass destruction" which has cost the lives of over 4,000 men and women, has wrought havoc on the lives of hundreds of thousand wounded veterans and placed all of these familie's hopes and dreams of a normal lifestyle in jepordy isn't morally wrong?
Keeping terroism off of our shores would have been capturing Osama Bin Laden not avenging daddy's nemisis Sadam Hussein.
If McCain and Palin are elected, the only difference in these administrations will be that McCain will have a Vice-President, with a valid hunting license, who will know the difference between shooting at "fair-game" and aiming at their hunting partners.

Our men and women in the armed forces know what they signed up for...to protect Americans under the leadership of the elected President. They know what the job entails before signing up; they are not being drafted. As for WPMs, do you really think that you have better information than the President of the United States? Did you find it easy to ignore the reports from Iraq of torture chambers where thousands of people were mutilated and killed by ghastly methods? Would you have thought that we should ignore Hitler until his army came goosestepping down Bristol's Main Street? God bless our troops and our President for everything they do for all of us, even those who are ungrateful.

If the Democrat's policy of higher taxes and more regulations were in affect instead of the sound, pro-growth policies of Bush, we'd be in a full blown recession, oil prices would be $200 a barrel and unemployment would be double what it is now.

What's it like being brainwashed? It must be dreadful not being able to think for yourself. I've never been one to take orders. Personally, I prefer to give them.

Now, go say the pledge of allegiance and salute the flag you mindless patriotic pea brain!

Don't you know that the economy is cyclical. Give it time to develop. This recession is going to be much worse than the 1930's.

Today's announcement concerning Freddie and Fannie going into conservatorship is HUGE!

The U.S. government, controlled by the ultra-rich right wing corporate wankers (a.k.a. republicans), is now holding five trillion dollars worth of mortgage debt. Quite possibly your mortgage is now in the hands of Uncle Sam. The ramifications of today's events will send ripples throughout the world. Unfortunately, most of the numbskulls in Bristol don't even have a clue what all this means to them, but they will soon enough.

Just you wait, because it's only a matter of time before unemployment soars. And cowboy G"W"B and his posse of heartless "heroes" are directly to blame for the whole friggin' mess. People are suffering and more will suffer still. Winter is coming to New England, and misery along with it.

What baffles me is that most of you (I'm trying to be generous) on this blog don't even realize we're currently living in a fascist plutocracy?

Our only hope for change is with the election of Obama/Biden in November.

I've got news for you wealthy republicans out there in the blogosphere who enjoy raping the middle class. Check in to the nearest hospital for sinners (a.k.a. church) to take your medicine. You better repent and do penance without further delay because Saint Peter doesn't accept American Express or depraved souls.

Now, 4:13 PM go say 10 Hail Mary's and 10 rosary's you total ignoramus!

11:35 sounds angry. I don't think it's a bad thing to be patriotic or follow orders (especially if that's what you're paid for) or to be wealthy or to be a Democrat or to be a Republican. I don't consider any of those things insulting. Too many bloggers on this site wear political party blinders. There are good/bad, rich/poor people on each side of the fence. Take the time to look beyond the labels; look at the person. Your party isn't always right. And all change isn't necessarily good.
