Here's a note that former GOP mayoral candidate Ken Johnson sent out this afternoon to supporters of the chief operating officer initiative (minus the time slots to sign up for):
The drive continues to get the City Manager/Chief Operating Officer question onto the November ballot. We had another successful week with a large number of people signing the petition at the Bristol and Forestville Stop & Shops and at the Headmaster’s Salon. As a result, we now have more than 1000 signatures in hand! Plus, with the additional petitions in the hands of circulators (Thank You Circulators!), we have at least 1500 signatures total and we are clearly past the half-way point. Thank you to all our volunteers this past week!
Our goal is to hit the 3000 mark this coming weekend. Therefore, we are conducting a petition blitz this Saturday and Sunday at the Bristol and Forestville Stop & Shops. Please lend your volunteer support to our effort so we can push the campaign over the top.
Please help! With one more big volunteer push, we can accomplish our goal!
Look at the schedule below. Please write back or call me and let me know when you can work a one or two-hour time slot. [Note: time slots removed. Contact Johnson for more information if you're interested in helping out.]
City Manager Petition Drive
Stop & Shop, Bristol
Saturday, July 12, 2008
10:00am - 5:00pm
Remember to tell your Republican, Democrat and Unaffiliated friends to come sign the petition and help us reach our goal. For those of you who have petitions to turn in, please bring them to either Stop & Shop this weekend so we’ll have an accurate count by the end of the weekend. You can also return your completed petitions during the week to Ken Cockayne’s office at Brokers Advanced Concepts, 52 Race St.
