Forestville Festival next week to raise money for Quinlan's Veterans Park

Former Republican city Council contender Bob Merrick asked me to post this. It sounds like a good cause and probably even a good time. They asked me awhile back if I'd go in a dunking booth for this. I said yes -- if I wasn't on vacation. Unfortunately for those who'd like to see me dunked, I'll be away.

Where ever you are going, it is not far enough. And however long you are going, it is not long enough.

I give credit to Bob "I hate French Beer" Merrick for getting involved with the FVA (he's been a member since 2007). It'll sure score him political points with the membership. Let's hope he runs again in 2009! He's a great candidate.

will Abe Lincoln be there?

Who cares how long Bob has been a member. Henry Raymond who is organizing the event is a new member along with many of the other people involved.

Don't we want new people to get involved in activities and events in our community or should they just sit around in the membership ranks of different community organizations for 15 years before they do anything?

East Main and Braod Steet is an Industrial and Heavy Commercial zone.
I believe the hard working entrepreneurs namely tradesmen should keep an eye on this group. Although Pasqualichio's vision for Forestville is to make the area tuned in to maximize the value of his operation, he worked well with local businesses who don't share his needs and wants.
Out of over-zealousness and ignorance this new group may become a problem.

Yes, a group of civic minded volunteers called the Forestville Village Association trying to better the community by hosting a fundraiser is a dangerous group indeed!

Who cares what they do? The center of Forestville is about to become a back alley-way into Bristol anyway after the new Route 72 is built. It's not the gateway from the east anymore, it's just a back road to Plainville.

Sure the organization is a good idea. They developed that land Bristol Paint & Lacquer gave to the city after that handicapped lady was dragged to her death trying to navigate BP&L's unkept sidewalk in the winter.

It's nice that these two guys are putting in their spare time trying to better the community. But what really is their motivation? According to Steve Collins this guy Merrick is "a former city council contender". Didn't he run last year? Is he just doing this stuff for PR purposes? Is he running again in 2009? Has anyone seen him or heard of him around Forestville prior to last year?

I guess it doesn't matter what's motivated them. But I'd rather be supporting people who really loved Forestville, than just people trying to make themselves popular for political purposes. What's "Quinlan's Veterans Park" need anyway? Isn't it just fine the way it is? Is this just an excuse to have a party? That's fine. Maybe these two guys should be supporting their beleaguered Republican colleagues running for office this year instead of trying to score political points with the electorate for themselves?

that big sign advertising the event doesn't belong where it is - it should be moved farther down the street so that it isn't blocking any of the veterans monuments.

Bristol Bumper Sticker: Question Motivation; Deride Everything

isn't that Quinlan property under the Park Department? if so then they should have that sign moved.

Actually, this is a Birthday Party for Dave P.

Maybe new people (no matter their motivation) is good for the FVA (aka the Nuchies Village Association). Except for a few almost worthless landscape improvements to Forestville center, all Dave P. has accomplished is making the rest of Bristol HATE Forestville.

You must be joking or are one of those who like to start trouble. If FVA has done little for the Forestville section of Bristol, please list the many accomplishments and improvements that our current and past politicians have made. You can use the abbreviated bullet list if you wish so that you post won't take up too much space.

1:57 pm is the same negative troll that invades discussions on this blog and other local forums and tries to shut down the conversation. If he doesn't get his way he has the discussion disabled.

Obviously he has some kind of personal dislike of Dave P. and the FVA. It seems that he has an inferiority complex to Dave P., a man of action, who has done much to improve the area of Bristol in which he does business.

Go away troll!

What's with the personal attacks? Would you like to meet and discuss our differences? I know a nice, quiet place in Forestville where no one will bother us where we can meet.

Dave P is what he is. Just because a few losers in "Forestville Village" (what is that anyway?) and some wanna-bees from somewhere else are in awe of the guy doesn't mean the rest of Bristol is.

Why don't YOU go away? You've done nothing for this city! Name one thing. You think you're some hero for sucking-up to the Nuchie's Village Association and "Bob"? You're a joke.

You have no idea whom or what you're talking about. Dave's a good guy. But he needs to realize he torques people off with this "Forestville Village" stuff. Forestville is a BOROUGH of Bristol. It's not a f___ing village. It's also not a place for quaint shoppes, restaurants and galleries. It's an industrial, heavy commercial (if you even know what that is) area.

SO again...GET LOST before you really start to piss people off.

Obviously it's dillusional and inappropriate people like you who makes discussions get shut down.

Can't you think of your own names to call people? You need to rely on your leader Bob for that? You're obvioauly a loser who can only "win" an argument by insulting people. You're nothing but a little piece of turd amd everyone knows it.

Where were you and your two heroes when the city decided to let the state put a highway in the back yards of all the people on Kenny Street?

That's right, you just moved here, huh? Well do the "village" a favor and go back to where you came from.
