Parenti eyes treasurer's office

Press release from GOP city Treasurer contender Rose Parenti:

I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to the citizens of Bristol. I’m Rose Parenti, I am running for City Treasurer on the Republican Ticket.

I am the owner of Computer Development Systems, Inc., a local Computer company that my husband Rick and I started 28 years ago. We moved our business from Terryville to Bristol in 1984 because we felt Bristol was a tremendous city to operate our business in. When my husband passed away last year I made the decision to continue the business with the support of my employees to provide computer support to Bristol and the surrounding area.

I was born in Brooklyn, New York, moving to Terryville, CT after the company my father was employed by, the Accurate Forging company relocated from Brooklyn to Bristol. I have two sons, Bill & Tony, they along with their wives and children live in Bristol. My grandchildren attend school in Bristol.

Having lived in Bristol since 1992, I have been involved in many organizations including Quota International of Bristol of which I have been a member for 20 years, being its treasurer, vice president and president.

Bristol has been good to me and my family, I feel that with my business experience and knowledge, serving as your treasurer would be one way to repay you and help Bristol grow.

As treasurer I will do my utmost to safeguard our investments and to maximize the return on the investments. Although I will be limited by law, I will stay on top of all activities providing support and help to the city’s full time staff.

I hope I have given you enough information so that you feel comfortable voting for me on November 3. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me at 860.583.5993.

Please remember Rose Parenti, 2A on the ballot on election day.

How can we band together when people like Cockayne mock fellow Republicans like Rimcoski, right in front of other democrat councilmen??

Nice person with a nice idea however she doesn't have any experience with investments, taxes, government, etc. I think she needs to start off with something more in her line of expertise.

The Treasurer, a part time position, manages the full time staff.
Rose can do that VERY WELL, and she does have significant business experience, more so than some previous Treasurers.

No one is doubting her business experience but she has no investment or tax related experience which is necessary for this position. You have to understand far more than just managing an office of 3 people.

Like I said, nice person, nice idea, but she's out of her realm of experience here and wouldn't know what to question.

Tax experience irrelevant, investment is pretty much dictated by law.

An effecient office can make money for the city.

What experience did the treasurer prior to the incumbent have, except political?
