A reminder... let's all play nice

I've been gunning down an awfully lot of comments recently, and probably letting some through that should have been knocked out.
So let me say again that you can't just write anything at all in response to stories or other comments. Let's refrain from speculating on peoples' mothers, their sobriety, their sexual leanings and the like.
Instead, let's try a radical concept: to write as clearly as possible with your thoughts about issues of importance in a style that doesn't rely on insults.
Humor is fine, of course, but it's not really funny to say "Eat my shorts, mayor!" or any number of much more grotesque comments.
There is only so much I can on here to control the discussion since I don't want to spend my hours being an online nanny. And I have no desire to restrict comments only to those whose opinions match my own, since that would be boring. But I would ask that you refrain from writing something you wouldn't gladly show your own mother.

One other thing, since I've been asked this repeatedly: I finally found a way to count visitors on this site. At this moment, there have been 6,602 visitors to this blog so far in May, averaging 357 unique visitors each day.
The blog entry that attracts the most readers? Something I wrote about Sean Landry being a "killer driver" for speeding at up to 140 miles per hour before last summer's horrible wreck on Route 6 that killed four teenagers.

that killed four teenagers.

Funny that no-one seems to remember that those criminals disrupted the lives of three INNOCENT victims .

Where are the memorials for them ?!?!?!

Where is the sympathy for the VICTIMS of these children who were trying to arrive home in time to beat their curfew ????

Isn't it a bit strange that the govt. steps in and imposes a curfew ????

Should we expect to see a rash of curfew murders ???

First off 3:20, there's no need for memorials for the 3 innocent victims. They survived the crash and THEY'RE STILL ALIVE.

Secondly, although the teenage DRIVER's actions were criminal, the 3 innocent victims who died with him were NOT criminals.

Thirdly, I don't think I known anyone (with the exception of yourself) who wasn't touched by this tragedy and I am sure that the survivors as well as the victims are still in our thoughts and prayers.

Enough of the twisted government conspiracy theories. Your rantings and ravings are annoying at best and morally offensive at worst....Please do us all a favor and give it a rest.

So much for let's play nice.

What would the naysayers and whiners do if they had to be civil?

Eat my shorts Steve! Had to say that! LMAO...you have provided a good thing for Bristol issues, even if you need to be a bit paternalistic from time to time!

Say what one likes about homosexuals, sodomy isn't against the law (in Connecticut). Drunk driving and Breach of Peace is. And more than one politician has been arrested for those things in the last 10 years. Let's not concentrate on one individual.

Thanks Steve for posting this. Its pretty sad that you have to tell grown adults this. SOme people here act like children and need to grow up and learn to be civil.

I see ..... DEAD criminals derserve to be memorialized and their victims should be ignored .

PLEASE !!!!!! Seek HELP

What are you talking about? The kids are dead for crying out loud. The girls in the car were all innocent victims (in my opinion). What memorial are you talking about? And lastly, the term "memorial" is in refernce to being dead. One can not be alive and be memorialized (in the proper use of the word).

2:47 ~ POT!!!! KETTLE!!!!

~We memorialize the DEAD (as in "honor the memory of")... NOT the living.

~There was only one person in the car who acted criminally - the other 3 children were INNOCENT.

Please do us all a favor and heed your own advice...

Steve,
I would like to thank you for the chance to post comments on your blog. Folks might want to remember you do not have to do this for the people in Bristol.
