this is freakin great......
more overtime for the DPW guys when our taxes are going to be raised 6%....
i think we all know the the DPW does....why do we need this kind of showmanship ???
don't we need to be a little more fiscally prudent???
here's ward giving back to his union buddies.....

this isn't April fools, is it? because it sure sounds damned foolish.
Sounds like a great idea! We have nurse's week, secretary's week, teacher's week. Why not show some appreciation for the DPW too? It's not about "showmanship," just a show of gratitude for some hardworking folks...
This has nothing to do with overtime, city funds, unions, or showmanship.
It is about appreciating Public Works, locally and nationally, and isn't costing you anything.
If they all get together someone may remember to fill the pot holes on the cornor of Jan rd and Alba drive
With the cuts that Ward is making to the budget, the same number of people will be doing even less.
I can't complain, they have swept my street 4, maybe 5 times so far.
I will complain.
I have lived in my house for 7 years now. Every year my street has been swept once, either very very early in the spring, even once before a snow storm and more salt and sand on the road after, and once in late May.
This year it has already been swept 4 times. Today they were doing it again, in the rain! My street does not need to be cleaned any more. Once was enough, especially in these times.
I think that DPW is trying to stay busy. or look busy to justify their bloated roster of employees. Someone is getting nervous with all the cuts being pushed and all the negativity coming out against the DPW and the unions.
Can't these guys driving street sweepers go fill pot holes instead? or is that forbidden by the union?
WE HAVE NO LEADER IN PUBLIC WORKS JUST TWO FONEYS RUNNING THE DEPT. THEY HAVE NO ONE WATCHING OVER THEM.
"FONEYS"?... give it up 4:11. Your intelligence (or lack thereof) is showing.
