puting all of the "silly season" rhetoric aside, the bottom line is that manipulating the decision making process is detrimental to city government and in total disregard for what the public deserves and expects from their elected officials. ellen needs to grasp the concept of "open" government for ALL of the people, not only her select few.

This whole flap smacks of the Rovian / Lieberman strategy of raising unsubstantiated / superfluous side issues to divert the public's attention from your lack of ideas and your refusal to debate serious issues. Do we actually expect our elected officials to arrive at meetings as blank slates, having done no prior research or preparation?

I guess I shouldn't be surprised since Artie has followed Joe Lieberman's playbook to a tee so far.

Again, no one has a problem with "scripting" per se - the problem is with "exclusion" and references to the "leaking" concerns, both of which are just downright WRONG!

Let's set the record straight on exclusion. Art Ward is the one who excluded the rest of the council because they were willing to work with Mayor Stortz for the good of the City. He even had the audacity to send the Democratic members of the council an email telling them he wanted to "go it alone" and refused to cooperate with the new mayor. They merely respected his wishes.

As far as the "leaks" are concerned: Ellen organized the meeting and the agenda was complicated and had lots of moving parts. She probably said to collect the agendas afterwards so other council members wouldn't be embarassed if the public saw that she organized the meeting with a little pre-planning and talking points.

If you go onto Ellen's website, you can read the "script," aka agenda, for yourselves. It sure looks harmless to me, and does not smack of anything that needed to be hushed-up. Again -- wrong choice of words on her part. She was probably in a hurry when she sent out the email and didn't think to scrutinize every single word.

Why don't you all get back to the real issues of the election. What are each of the mayoral candidates proposing to do to make the City a better place to live??

Not true, what Ms. Zoppo did was to get in tight with the Mayor to use him to her full potential.

Councilman Ward was the honest one, if he had a disagreement with the Mayor he spoke openly about it. While she hid in the background laying out her game plan with McCauley, Minor and Nicastro. Then she came in for the ----.

I read what she wrote and she covered her tracks as she always does, but trust me, people can read between the lines. Who cares what the State finds, she is still guilty. The "den mother", I cannot believe that these men allow her to call them her "den mother". What is wrong with all of you.

Now she has picked up a few more for the pack, Lydem, Block. Did they run before and lose??????

I don't think she's sleeping Very Well these days~! The Citizen's of Bristol are sleeping well knowing that her "True Colors" are coming out more and more with each New Passing Day...If the State did not have enough Information or Proof against her, I don't think they would be wasting their time~ and when/if they do find her Guilty and Bristol has to Pay A Fine...Here We Pay Again!

The last comment shows ignorance both of the Freedom of Information complaint process and the more basic issue of the presumption of innocence. Complaints are brought by private citizens, not "the State" and don't have to be substantiated. Any moron can file a complaint and they often do.

On a more basic level, we have a principle in our justice system called the presumption of innocence. Just because charges are made, even charges brought by the police and prosecutors, that does not mean that a person is automatically guilty. If that were the case we wouldn't bother with trials. You show your ignorance and, dare I say, anti-americanism by insisting otherwise.

amarko55, and what is so pro-american about the use of "scripting" to determine the final decision of an issue by manipulating the agenda and prejudicially determining who will participants in the process?

amarko55, are you the treasurer for Minor, and are you also on the DTC? Because that means a lot and the people will then know where you are coming from.
