Just a reminder...

I think a few too many rather pointless, mean-spirited comments have gone through lately. I'm going to be tougher on what I approve.
I'm already deleting the vast majority of posts, but I think I probably should be deleting even more.
Please, think before you write, and don't lash out at each other. Don't just hurl insults. Try to make a point clearly and effectively.
Let's raise the level, folks, or it'll just be me on here. And why would anyone want that?

Perhaps the Johnson camp feels that their best shot at winning is to have Ward and Zoppo split the Democratic vote about equally. If they hit Art too hard they will throw the election to Ellen.
Or it could just be an example of their inexperience and incompetence."

**Obviously in a city with a two to one Democrat to Republican advantage, it would be benificial to the minority party to have two Democrats running on the same ticket as well. Why would Marko call the GOP team "incompetant"? Marko clearly is out of line.

Calling a political campaign incompetent or inexperienced is not the same as hurling an insult at someone with no context.

I completely agree with your screening the answers more closely. People are logging on to your blog now simply to sling mud and insult others, and are not even staying on point with the original issue.

I agree Steve. It is unfortunate you have to play "Blog Cop".There are posters here who simply REFUSE to exercise any restraint and try to malign people in the most rude, vicious manner they can,and NOT signing their name to the remarks.BOTH political camps are guilty of this. It's just SAD!

i wonder if ward, zoppo, and johnson care about the deaf community as they are the bristol residents living in bristol paying taxes and so forth. they should get involve with the deaf community and there are many deafs and hard of hearing living in bristol would like to go to the meetings about going around in bristol.

Steve, how much does the Press pay you for doing this blog? It's clearly extra work for you -- there's been no reduction in the number of stories you write for the paper. I hope they're making it worth it to you -- at least enough to pay for the Mylanta you must need to deal with all this -- and for all that Diet Pepsi you drink.

No extra pay. :(

Steve: Can you tell us why there have been NO letters to the editor written on behalf of any of the candidates running in the primary for almost three weeks?

Why no letters to the editor about the primary? I have no idea.
My grip on how things get put together at the paper is minimal these days. I'm nearly as surprised as everyone else by what I read every day.
I will say, though, that I do firmly believe that letters to the editor and strong local editorials are critical ingredients in the success of any local newspaper. They're important in allowing, and fostering, the kind of community conversation that leaves a paper with a crucial role to play.
