Three state candidates from Bristol qualify for state campaign dollars

So far, three contenders for the state General Assembly whose districts include at least part of Bristol have qualified for public financing of their campaigns: Republican state Senate hopeful Jason Welch in the 31st District, GOP state House candidate Whit Betts in the 78th District and state Rep. Frank Nicastro, a Democrat from the 79th District.
State Rep. Betty Boukus, a Plainville Democrat from the 22nd District, said she has raised the requisite funds and should qualify soon.
Here is the complete list.

Who is Jason Welch?

Jason is one of the Republican parties sacrificial lambs: Fitzgerald is the other one.

Blame it on the Republican organization.

Sacrificial lambs will be lead to slaughter by Welch and Fitgerald...then again the sacrifice they will hand us will be a relief from the Colopietro and Wright!

How did that kid Welch qualify so fast?? He just moved into town! No one knows him in Bristol; he’s got to stand on street corners with funny glasses on to make himself known to Bristol! Hummm. He must be very arrogant to think he can represent the people of Bristol after just moving into town. Well just an arrogant lawyer, err..Insurance agent. Yes, according to his own Press release, he’s an insurance agent for Lloyd’s of London. Humm.
And Betts, we know where he got most of his money ...Barne$.

I'm appalled! Did you see the price on the fundraiser for Nelson, Registrar of Voters?! $50!! What does he need to fund with that amount? A couple of new $600 suits for the job if he wins? For Pete’s sake, it's only Registrar of Voters!

Jason Welch qualifed because he earned it.I give him alot of credit. But he still only has a 14% of winning.

12:21 And where did he earn all of his money ? Where besides the Barnse$$$$ and Bobroske's did his big money come from? It's all public record you lying phony !

It IS public record, and Welch obviously had a number of contributors in order to qualify for state campaign money. He is standing on the street corners (no more funny glasses) and he is going door-to-door and he is attending local events, getting his name, face, and ideas known in the district. Welch is working, which is something that Colapietro hasn't done lately. If we are smart, we will get Welch to Hartford to work for us. Vote for Jason!

How can anyone say they "know" this Welch kid is "nice" or that he'll do well for Bristol if elected?? He hasn't even been in town a year.
He looks phony to me with that pasted on smile. I don't think any responsible voter could vote for a total stranger.

This kid Welch must know he can't win but he's still willing to take state money for his campaign. What an ego he must have. He's obviously loaded too, buying the Carpenter estate and working for Lloyd’s of London/Beazley.

I think the bigger question is what is taking Tom Colapietro so long to qualify? Maybe he should be out raising money instead of writing on these blogs....

Jason is not a "kid", he has several children of his own.

While he may not be "well known", he and his wife have shown enough interest in Bristol to get involved.

And while he may be a political newcomer, and not get the proper help and direction from the party, he is real, he means well.
Being a lawyer should not be an issue: both sides have sent lawyers to Hartford.
Unfortunately, a few of the Republican Leadership have this hate thing for Colapietro, and it is distorting the whole campaign.

Last I checked the rules for raising money were the same for all involved. 150 Donors and 5000k in donations, none more than 100 dollars.

Lets see how much Money Colapietro raises from the liquor store owners...

I met Jason Welch at a recent event and I was impressed. I think he listens to the the people and is interested in change. I think Tom needs to go.

Jason Welch is out there working for your vote and he'll be working hard for you in Hartford. Don't settle for same-old, same-old again this election. We need some changes; Colapietro has got to retire.
