5 years since Bugryns ousted

Ed Dudko spoke to the City Council tonight to let its members know that his family, the Bugryns, have now been out of their homes for five years.
There's nothing yet to take the place of the homes the city took to build its mostly empty Southeast Bristol Industrial Park, he pointed out.
His mother, Mary (Bugryn) Dudko, "hates her new home," he said
Dudko said that Nellie Fillipetti, another of the elderly family members who were forced out, died last month.
"What happened?" Dudko asked. "Who was I to subsidize Yarde Metals?"
One of the driving forces behind the city's effort was to find a place for Yarde Metals to expand. In the end, the company wound up in Southington, but not for lack of trying by City Hall.
The city bought the Bugryns' property for market value, as determined by appraisers and courts.

They should consider themselves lucky the current administration wasn't in charge back then .

It would have been quite possible that upon returning from a trip for groceries , they would have found that their beloved home had been 'removed' by the citys stand-by wrecking crew contractor .

Good job Frank!

I can't feel sorry for those people, they were given an opportunity to keep their home and a large chunk of land while selling the rest for millions of dollars. But they got greedy, pushed it to court, and still got millions of dollars.

A few years from now we might start to realize and admit just how much damage Nicastro did to Bristol: Bugryns, failure to maintain the infrstructure, failure to move ahead on the schools back in the 90's.

Lets hope we learned from that type of "leadership"!!!

This gave the city a black eye.

Even though things didn't work out in the end, Frank did what he thought was right at the time.
I truly believe he did what he thought was best for the City. The Bugryns made out very well in the end. We can't all get out way every time. Lifeand the decisions we make are a gamble. Sometimes we win, sometimes we don't.

Right, so we should just gamble with people's lives just in case it works out. Putz.

Union Basher: I doubt you would be saying that if it was your house the City was trying to take.

The Bugryns could of kept their house and made millions on their land, but they were greedy, the city offered more than market price for everything and would of let them keep the house, but they wanted even more.

Even still after they received market price, they made millions. Get it, the city made these people millionairs. They need to stop complaining.

3:04- if the City was giving me a truckload of money, like they did for the Bugryn's, I certainly wouldn't argue or miss my home much.

This land grab was un-American, unjust, not needed and a waste of the tax payer's money.

Boo and hiss to Frank, the council and their buffoonery.

Concerned conservative, I can say agree with you about something.
