Republican mayoral candidate Ken Johnson told GOP leaders Monday night that he was pulling out of the race, citing personal reasons. I'll have more on this later, I trust.
Meanwhile, on the Democratic side, three City Council contenders announced their plans.
City Councilor Kevin McCauley announced he would run again in the 2nd District.
Two newcomers also entered the race.
In the 1st District, Kevin Fuller declared his intention to run against incumbent Republican Mike Rimcoski.
In the 3rd District, Terry Parker leaped into the fray, joining Kate Matthews in a bid to hold the seats that Craig Minor and Frank Nicastro are giving up in November. Another Democrat, Gloria Marino, has been calling district leaders and may yet enter the contest there.

Gloria Marino are you kidding me?????? She did nothing on the BOE!!!!
At least 6 of the possible democrat candidates work for the city and/or have ties to relatives to teh city.
Does that tell you something?
Could be an interesting story there.
Hey why not hire out of towners for the job. Why not works for the Mayor.
I hope someone runs for Mayor - this town cannot afford Ward for another 2 years.
Come on now! It looks like even Johnson knew he couldn't beat Ward. Aside from a small band of anti-Ward folks who are still pissed that he won last time, the majority of people around town are quite pleased with the job Ward has done and are looking forward to his re-election.
GO WARD!
heard that if the gop genuflects, Stotz will be the candidate.
c'mon, let's make it the bye-bye ken and ken show - either today or in november.
I hope this finally puts the failed p[olitical career of Johnson to rest.
He has proven time and again that he lacks the personality, temperment and political wit to succeed in Bristol.
Stick a fork in that turkey... it's done!
Time for Billy "I told you so" Stortz to emerge from the scrap heap that is the local Republican party.
Barring the discovery of a cub scout in a footlocker, it's Art's race now.
At least Johnson finally smartened up.
This is funny. Perhaps Chairman "Wow" (TJ Barnes) will be forced (by party protocol) to run.
LOL!
As long as Barnes and Krawiecki run the Republican herd, Stortz won't be the candidate.
how could johnson pull out when we never saw him in the race to begin with? all air, no substance.
Krawiecki for Mayor
"Krawiecki for Mayor"
...I'd second that
If the Democrats are seriously considering running someone of Gloria Marino's quality in the race, then the republicans will surely capture seats and/or there will be a helluva lot of ticket splitting going on.
Krawiecki won't run for mayor. Why would he?
What does he have to gain? The man is busy enough with a full time law practice.
If Johnson had dropped out two years ago we would have a Republican Mayor today.

Ego and Power!
He has enough money already.
6:27, and if you had dropped out, ward would have had one more vote which would have had johnson never making such a fool of himself by saing that he "was the 2009 candidate" on election night 2007. We would also have been spared from his politically suicidal fit of rage at the GAESB 45 meeting in February.
Great show, no substance.
I would vote for a monkey over Ward.
8:47 - democracy says that you are in the right to vote for any republican that you want - monkey, ape, orangatang, chimpanzee - didn't mean to overwhelm you with having to make so many family choices.
"I would vote for a monkey over Ward."
You can't...he dropped out.
Don't worry 8:47, I'm sure they'll find another monkey for you to vote for. Hey, wait a minute! Maybe you should consider running??? You'd probably be perfect for the position!
Krawiecki for mayor!
Johnson stuck it to stortz, now he is sticking it to barnes.
Who is next?
5:44
And who is benefitting: Ward.
Interesting!
