State Rep. Ron Burns said today that he’s not ready to say whether he’ll seek a second term in the 77th District.
“I’m still on the fence,” said the freshman Republican who knocked out veteran Democrat Roger Michele in 2006 to claim the seat.
Burns said he hopes to decide soon, but isn’t sure when he’ll know.
“I’ve got some irons in the fire and I’ve got to wait ‘til those flesh out,” Burns said.
Those irons don’t relate to politics, he said.
Burns is capable of walking away from the seat. He quit the City Council in 2005 after a single term, despite having wide support among Democrats as well as Republicans.
Democrat Christopher Wright is aiming to win the district come November. It doesn't appear there are any other Democrats vying for the opportunity.

On the fence? WTF does that mean? Perhaps the guy might say something like "I have work and family obligations that might keep me from running again..."
But "on the fence"? In other words he's not sure if he really cares to be there because maybe he just doesn't like the job?
Someone needs to tell him that the term "on the fence" isn't too positive and it pertains to siding on a controversial issue not career matters. Krawieki where are you?
Ron, why now?
How long have these irons been in the fire?
Looks like you are waiting for Rell to beg you again.
"Other irons in the fire"?
Would love to know what that means.
Burns is one of this city's best. To imply that he doesn't care is ridiculous! He has given his life to the youth of Bristol and an inordinate amount of time to the citizens of this town in general. He is thought very highly of across party lines on the local and state level.
Oh yeah, who made you the expert on what "on the fence" means? Do you also know what "head up your a#%" means?
Mr. Barnes, you are off to a good start: nobody against wright, nobody against nicastro, nobody against colopietro.
Is Hamzy running?

I know what "crude ignorant buffoon" means. That would be you.
"He has given his life to the youth of Bristol"
-Yeah for pretty good money. What else is he going to do, drive a dump truck or work at health trax? Give me a break. Don't get your feathers in an uproar, if he runs he'll win and I'll vote for him for sure. Just as long as the fense post isn't stuck in his "a#%" as you so tackfully phrased.
Sincerely,

Chris Wright running against Burns and Jacquie Denski from Plymouth running against Hamzy.
Will the democrats ever put up decent candidates???
Chris Wright for State Rep.!!
Wright is right (for once).
Wright is wrong!!! (again...ooops that was his dad)
This is BS. Is he playing cat and mouse with the state GOP? Are these idiots not guaranteeing him support? Who's the moron from Bristol on the State Central Committee and why is he not getting this resolved? Is it because he is inept? What about the town chairman? Can't he get Burns to commit? Does Burns even want to do this job? What's the problem?
Too bad Johnson doesn't live in that district: he likes to challenge incumbents.
Prediction: Burns will not run, and then want to run for mayor next year.
That is his pattern, one term and out.
Ron, time is getting short!
Mr. Barnes: what are you doing to get candidates??
May 4, 2008 9:32 PM:
He's using his charm, good looks, but mostly his family name.
What do you think?
He'll get some loser (infatuated with him) to bow to his greatness (Barne$-ness) and run (an undoutably unsuccessful campaign).
LOL!!!!!
Ron Burns for Mayor!!! Yea! Then maybe Bristol will have a chance to survive!
STEVE- WHAT CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THIS JACKIE DENSKI PERSON?
I know absolutely nothing about Jackie Denski.
She is running: but what do we know about Burns?
When is the covention?
The republican party is working themselves out of existence.
Ron, still undecided???
Ron, we're waiting, still.
