Ward calls for remembering 9-11

Press release from Mayor Art Ward:

Bristol, CT, September 11, 2009 – September 11th, 2001, the day that no American will ever forget – a day I hope to never witness again.

The lives lost and the lives shattered by those who would deny us freedom, are the reminder that freedom is not free. It carries a huge price tag.

As we remember September 11th and the events of that day, let us not forget those men and women who paid the price for our freedom. We remember those who sacrificed their lives on that day and in the military operations that followed as a result of 911.

Let us reflect on that tragic day, honor our dead and the loved ones who lost someone, and know that as a nation, we are stronger and more united in the pursuit of the principles our forefathers declared on July 4, 1776.

Well said Mayor Ward.

Newsflash - we already knew what this day was about - do we really need the Mayor to tell us? NO.

What is wrong with some of you?

September 11, and remembering it as 9-11 is supposed to bring us together as a people,as a country, not tear us apart!

While Mayor Ward and I may disagree on many issues ( and we do), 9-11 transcends politics IF you are an american, as far as I am concerned.

His effort to remind us is appropriate and I fully endorse his message to the people.

For once Mr. Stortz, (and it doesn't happen often) I agree with you! 9-1-1 should never be forgotten.

Based on his current relationship with the fire and police I am not surprised the mayor overlooked their role in 9-11. If it doesn't fit his message - then leave it out. You can't say you respect emergency responders with a straight face based on how he has acted in the last two years.

11:27, The Bristol police and fire department had absolutely nothing to do with 9-1-1. Please don't twist this discussion into a way to take a potshot at the mayor. It's very disrespectful.

Ward is a liar, plain and simple.

-Perhaps he should give them "rights" to people's homes and their daughters too? You're nothing but a self-centered greed-bag only in it for the money I guess...and you certainly get it (compensation)

8:27 - shame on you, the message was about the service and sacrifice of others - u kneed to give up your personal grudges and give respect for those who gave their all.
