Bristol woman named CT Young Democrat of the Year

As many city Democrats already know, Laura Bartok is a whirlwind.
The campaign manager for state Rep. Chris Wright's successful race last year, she's also been involved with much more in party circles in Bristol.
Apparently, the state Young Democrats know it as well. She was named the Connecticut Young Democrat of the Year at last night's 5th annual Robert Kennedy Dinner.

YFS...Young female socialist, what an asset (gag).

I suspect detractors such as 9:49 have not had the opportunity to meet Laura. Shame on them. She is delightful, and an asset to this city. Congratulations!!

Congratulations to Laura Bartok. She is an amazing young woman, and deserves this honor.

What does being "young Democrat of the year" mean except that she is an exceptional political hack?

Just another anti-traditional American values, naive liberal who pushes for more socialism.

Not an asset...a liability.

It's certainly like these Republican creeps on here who can't understand why nobody is as mean spirited and cowardly as they are . The jerk that is calling you a "Hack" is in fact a republican hack. That's why he knows so much about them. Congrats I don't think this Jerk will ever get any kind of an award other than jerk of the year!

So we have her to blame for Chris Wright.

Congrats to Laura. I'm a Republican, but we have some mutual friends and they all speak quite highly of her. This is a great honor for someone who has worked extremely hard for her party.

Congratulations, Laura. This is a well-deserved recognition. Someday we will all be saying "I knew her when"!

"Jerk of the year" coming from a left-wing, neo-socialist Democrat hack is an honor.

Thanks.

I still don't see why people should precive a political hack (activist, operative, employee, volunteer whatever) as an asset when that activist's ideology is bad for the community.

The People's Republic of Bristol should erect a statue of this great woman.

i support 9:46 for jerk of the year. congratulations. you deserve it, probably more than any of us will ever know.

NOT mine said...

So .... Communist threats to the American way of life are being hailed in this blog .... Good Work steve ....

NOT !!!!!!!!!

Your gonna blame somebody even if he votes like a republican.

Iam so disheartened by the fierce anger & negative comments generated because a person is honored .
Is it so hard to say "good Work", then move on. Must we cut on others ; must we forget civilities; must we always be in a war-like, combative stance?
Come on, Bristol...norepht Show some of the goodness that we know exists.....

I don't mind that the Democrats honor her.

I just mind what she's being honored for. And for that reason I have no use for her work.

sorry.

And I'm sorry you don't like the slang-word "hack"...but that's what she is.

and the jerks are those who support her.

This is the crying blog for the disident republican "Hacks" (Dingbats)
I actually thought Collins was going to fix this . But I guess not!

Anonymous said...

No, a ding-bat is a liberal who thinks we're a government based economy and more spending and higher taxes will lead to a better standard of living. That's a progressive, and I'm sure Ms. Bartok is a "Progressive".

Kate Matthews comes out and shows she's a supporter of the most liberal Democrats and that her eyes (as well as Bartok's) are set on higher office. Stopping their political ventures would be good, if possible.

But it doesn't really matter. Connecticut is on a permanent course to becoming an economically stagnating welfare state, one where growth only exists in the government sector...one that Ms Bartok surely aspires to. And one where only the elite like lawyers, doctors and government employees make a good living.

If anything "Collins" should ban comments like yours.

Calling a political operative a hack might be ever so slightly crude (although the great "Ellen" used it in decribing what the COO should not be), and criticizing the honoring (by a politcal party)of an idealogue is hardly action that should be "fixed".

If one doesn't like the heat of politics, be shouldn't venture into it.

Any person, young or old, that gets involved should be commended.
If you disagree with their position, stake out you own and get involved.
If she is in the minority, it is only because the majority is too lazy to get involved.
Bet the Republicans wish she were on their team.
Maybe the democrats do a better job of cultivating their young, maybe people, maybe the Republicans can learn from them.

The Republicans have one of their young running for City Council, and have had a huge youth movement across the state. Inform yourself before spouting off.

6:58 You're absolutely right . Bye ! Politics isn't sniping and trying to change the world to their way of thinking. So practice what you preach and bye bye baby bye bye!

Anonymous said...

Then 6:52 you should bail out now and I assure you no one will miss you at all.

Anonymous said...

You people who are knocking her are all losers. You are sitting at home online bantering on about how she is a "hack"... At least she is out there doing something. You should probably log off the computer now and spend some time with your families or try and do something with your life. A young, hardworking woman received an award and all you people can do is be miserable. Its pathetic.

By the way, I am a Republican and I am embarrassed for my party if your comments about this woman are politically driven.

My comments are driven by Mr. Collins providing a space for my comments.

I personally think you're comment is dull.

"At least she is out there doing something"

"By the way, I am a Republican"

-If these comments are actualy genuine, it's no wonder we're dominated by a liberal cabal of Democrats. "At least she's doing something"...yeah like helping a liberal get elected and helping Connecticut get run over like road kill by more business friendly states like Texas. Why don't you wake up you fool?

I'm a Democrat and I'm ashamed that Ms. Bartok won this award. She is obviously in this for herself and her support of Wright shows that. Wright should not be in the Legislature, but thank to this "great" Bartok he is. Thanks for nothing!

the future of this nation is dependent on an energetic, knowledgeble, passionate, dedicated generation of concerned and willing individuals who are able to step up and lead this nation into tomorrow. Any one who is naive enough to believe otherwise is foolhardy and out of touch with reality.
We need more young adults such as Laura, in every political party, for the future of this country.
Congratulations Laura, we are very, very proud of you.

Sure wish she was on our side.

Maybe if SHE had manged Jill's campaign, Jill might have won!

Anonymous said...

to 2:29 "Grow Up"! I don't care if you're a democrat or a republican!
And to Ms Bartok , congratulations and keep up the good work.

Anonymous said...

Hey so-called democrat 2:29 You are showing your ignorance . This isn't about Wright it's about Laura. So stop acting like a whining Republican(if you aren't already one) and lets show some respect no matter what party. I thought this blog was supposed to be informative , not a sounding board for losers.

Chris Wright had the courage to enter the race when his opponent was believed to be the popular incumbent Ron Burns. Laura had the vision to link her reputation with a campaign that many thought to be hopeless. Yes, she deserves accolade for helping get Wright elected.

Anonymous said...

Laura's work ethic is admirable, but I don't agree with her political choices. Wright is usually wrong. No one deserves praise for helping him get elected.

Anonymous said...

Laura has the courage of her convictions, as some of the people that blog on here do.
But, she has put her name on the line, as many on here do not do.

But tell me, wht is Artie Draw writing letters on her behalf?
Doesn't he have any work to do?

Anonymous said...

10:44 What kind of work do you do that you have all this time to bad mouth everyone?

Anonymous said...

2:29 I made my money and retired at age 48, a number of years back.

Anonymous said...

How many people did you screw to get to retire so early 6:06? Did you earn any of it ? And how?

Anonymous said...

lot of sad people here- this is why nothing ever gets done in town too many opinions being bandied about not enough listening- Congrats to Bartok

Didn't screww anybody.

Started a business, worked hard, many hours, invested wisely.

If someone would explain that to you, maybe you could try it.
