Is anyone taking on John Larson this year?

The Republicans are making a bit of a fuss lately about U.S. Rep. John Larson, the East Hartford Democrat who rolls over GOP challengers like the rest of us might step on ants. It makes me wonder if they're just going through the motions of being an opposition party or if perhaps they have someone ready to tackle Larson in the 1st District who might prove a worthy contender.
As I look at potential foes for the congressman, it's hard to see why the Republicans could imagine they'll have better luck this year than they have in the past. But it could be they have someone up their sleeves who could at least make things interesting.
Anyone know who it might be?

Who cares? The Democrats outnumber the Republicans especially in Hartford and surrounding towns by so much its impossible to win. Even Kevin O'Connor who is now a state prosecutor and an official with the Justice Dept. was beaten solidly.

Why make a childish, degrading comment by referring to challangers as ants? I guess Hitler, Mao and Stalin did the same to their political opposition. What an honor.

Actually it's perhaps in this case like the maggots and the ants feeding on the dying carcass that once was the great state of Connecticut. And those maggots turn out in droves for Larson.

I'm not comparing the Republican challengers to ants. In fact, I have real respect for some of them. It takes guts and fortitude to take on an established incumbent in a heavily Democratic district. Larson would, no doubt, agree with that assessment, too.

Finding a candidate is Mocabees job: lets see how he does.

Steve...you called the Republicans ants. That is going to cost you. You need to do your homework, if you look hard enough you will likely come up with a name or two. Or, you can be patient. But to call the Republicans ants is way beneath even your standards.

I did not call Republicans "ants." I said Larson swats away opponents like the rest of us step on ants. It's called an analogy. It is not the same thing as calling Republicans ants.
Sometimes I despair for the Bristol school system. I really do.

If in fact those on this blog are Republicans I can think of more suitable names to call them. Ater all isn'tthat what they do on here all the time if people don't agree with them ?

steve, how can you be sure that 8:22pm didn't graduate cum laude from west hartford schools?

The Connecticut Republicans apparently will be having a statewide meeting on Saturday to discuss stategy for the upcoming elections for the General Assembly.

My GOP sources tell me they may unveil their opponent for John Larson at this meeting!

Let's be serious Art Mocabee couldn't get elected dog catcher (no offense to dog catchers).

Besides, he spends to much time with is only friend (the image he sees in his mirror).

Mocabee running against Larson would be like a dream come true ---
for Larson.
