One thing we know Colapietro's loss means: Sunday liquor sales

Without state Sen. Tom Colapietro to swat down the plan, it's likely that lawmakers will allow Sunday liquor sales beginning sometime next year. Colapietro has been the champion of liquor store owners who want a day off.
But given the state's desperate search for cash, there's not much doubt that adding another day of liquor sales is going to happen.
As co-chair of the General Law Committee, Colapietro has blocked the measure for years, with the backing of his committee.

Get off it Steve.

It also mean this. The Senate will have some respect for the voters in Bristol as will the rest of the state.

It will also mean that the people will have a voice that will not be a mirror image of the AFL-CIO's ultra-liberal politcal agenda.

It will also mean that Bristol will have a voice that will not duplicate the gay lobby, the NAACP, and every other ultra liberal special interest that dominates the Democrat Party.

Bristol has respect in the senate. Know your facts. Bristol always had a voice. I take it unless they are against gays and minorities they don't count. Welch is a Christian so I am sure he does not echo your sentiments.

Note:

I guess the Roman Catholic Church doesn't fit your definition of "christian". The RCC is against gay marriage unlike the gay lobby.

To Notice:

RCC - I believe it has it's own issues with gay activity!!!

So you acknowledge the behavior is abhorrent? The Pope does too. See you agree with me as well. Good point!

If someone agrees with the issues of the gay lobby that's your right. But to say that one is non-Christian if they don't support the agenda of the gay (liberal) lobby is twisted, wrong-headed and mean. You should be ashamed of yourself.

"Colapietro has been the champion of liquor store owners who want a day off." Steve they can have a day off no one says a private businees owner needs to be open 7 days a week. They can choose to be closed one day or more a week.

Steve DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT YOU WRITE ABOUT? Maybe it is time for you to go too! You make it sound so simple, you obviously have no idea about the difference in constitutional powers, your ignorance makes me wonder exactly how many times you write editorials as if it was news on the newspaper pages as well! I went to the polls the other day to vote in the 77th district and had a talk with Jill Fitzgerald who expressed real regret at how you incorrectly wrote and highlighted the sales tax issue early in her campaign as an example. This just pours gas on my fire to say that you do journalism no favors by playing on the internet. Where have all the Cronkite's gone? Obviously not to the local pages! A SAD COMMENTARY ON WHY PEOPLE FEEL SO DISGUSTED ABOUT ELECTIONS AND THE WAY THEY ARE PORTRAYED - with all due respect to you and the others who write and report, you have createwd this climate of hate and disrespect, you do it with the holier than thou belief that you are the protected "free press" Jefferson believed essential to a free society, the same free press that does not report news, but today thinks must make the news! I am disgusted by these tactics and those of your colleagues both at the Bristol Press and all of the other news outlets.

About time! Let the liquor pour! It's also pretty sad that Colapietro will only be remembered for stopping liquor sales on Sunday! LOL!

7:48,
You seem to need some anger management classes. Colapietro is gone. Now you guys are stooping to attacking journalist??? Geez I am not sure about the Fitzgerald thing BUT we ALL make mistakes. I am sure if Steve knew he had made an error, he would have corrected it right away. I don't care what paper you read we see corrections printed all the time. Steve, Keep up the good work!!

7:48 -- There was nothing wrong with the sales tax story. Go back and read it.

Liquor sales on Sunday?
I fail to see how the state feels this will generate more money. People who want to drink on Sunday simply stock up on Saturday.
Do they really think it will be that huge? Love how the states loves to drink, smoke and gamble us to death!

1:42 PM, The state isn't forcing anyone to drink, smoke or gamble, but those who want to should be able to, don't ya think?

Wright is still almost always wrong said...

Steve:
As much a I think Chris Wright should never have been elected, I agree with him and you (the closet Democrat hack you are). His support of NOT having a local sales tax was a no-brainer. Fitzgerald virtually blew it on that one. And Wright made up for his blundering on the ESPN tax issue.
