SENATOR COLAPIETRO AGAIN SUPPORTS THE END TO ZONE PRICING FOR GAS TO HELP CONSUMERS
Hartford – The co-chair of the General Assembly’s General Law Committee, Senator Thomas Colapietro is again supporting legislation that would ban gasoline zone pricing to help equalize gas prices in Connecticut and to provide more relief for consumers.
With strong support from Senator Colapietro, the Senate passed legislation in 2006 and 2007 to prohibit zone pricing to deal with the wide range of gas prices in Connecticut, but the measures were not approved in the House of Representatives. This year, the General Law Committee is considering another bill that is co-sponsored by Senator Colapietro.
S.B. 6518 An Act Concerning the Fair price of Gasoline is designed to ban the practice of gasoline zone price and to discourage gasoline price gouging. It will prohibit geographic zone pricing of gasoline and indicates that no person shall discriminate in the price of gas charged to a retail seller of gas except to recover actual transportation costs and to offer discounts or rebates.

It is still $1.85 in Bristol
Why would our State Senator want to end zone pricing which would have the result of averaging the price statewide and raising the price for his constituents?
Please explain his warped rationale to me.
If MY price of gas in Bristol goes up as a result of this idiotic legislation, Tommy will have some 'splainin' to do.
How does equalizing the gas price by raising it in Bristol to help Fairfield County at my expense consitute relief?

I agree with the post at February 27, 2009 3:13 PM. Bristol gas prices are some of the lowest in the state.
Who is Senator Colapietro getting his ideas from? It sounds from this piece and others (more specifically regarding the gay marriage issue), that the Senator takes his marching orders from either leftists from the unions that bank-roll his campaign or the same in his own party. I do not see this proposal doing anything for the people in the
31st District. It's just another shot at business from the left.
Colapietro is working against his constituents. And he always gets elected. Amazing. Could we be any stupider?

Colapietro never even pretends to help businesses or the people. He's there for the unions. He volunteered that information to me, and will tell anyone who asks him. He doesn't hide it.
Colapietro wants to unionize the gas stations.
