Remember that $4 million for Rockwell Park renovations that former state Rep. Kosta Diamantis, a Bristol Democrat, got approval for some years ago? The money that never made it onto the State Bond Commission agenda?Well, forget about it.
Rell's proposed budget "cancels nearly $400 million in unallocated bond authorizations – most of them pork-barrel spending or earmark projects that the state simply cannot afford in this time of austerity," according to highlights prepared by her office.
Though the projects are not listed specifically -- or, at least, I couldn't find them --there is a page that shows a whole bunch of axed projects in background type that's meant to be sort of artsy, in an accountant's view anyway.
Among thost wiped out projects is Bristol's $4 million for Rockwell Park.
Oh, well, Easy come, easy go.

Frank has his flaws, but Kosta couldn't get the money distributed when times were great, don't blame Frank for not getting the money when times were bad.

Former representative Kosta Diamantis was able to deliver more money to this community while he represented Bristol in Hartford than any other legislator, combined.
He, too, had his faults, but he delivered, especially for education and youth programs. Frank Nicastro does have a few good ideas, but I am so tired of listening to him tell the voters how good he is, has been and will be. I just about fall off my chair when I see him pound the table to make a point as if this will make me believe him more.
Kosta was quiet and he delivered. Frank is not quiet and has delivered very little from Hartford. Kosta worked with any party, Frank is far too partisan for me.
To Frank's credit, he will not be running for a city council seat again. Thank goodness - but his ego is so huge that I would not be surprised if he ran against Art. They have no love for each other and Frank believes he can win any election. Stay tuned.

The money was there - but when Frank won over Kosta, Kosta put the screws to Bristol by telling his friend (Ammen) don't put Bristol on the Bond Fund Committee. Thanks for screwing with us Kosta.

You could be correct, but what goes around comes around. The Bristol voters dumped Kosta after years of faithful service and delivering, and Kosta dumped them. The voters got what they deserved - Frank. ...and they still have a love affair with him...God only knows why.
It does not really matter - Rockwell Park is a lost cause - the West End is a lost cause - Downtown is a lost cause - Route 72 is a lost cause - in fact, ALL of Bristol is a LOST CAUSE - Totally Hopeless - DEAD

i was not born in this city but have lived here for 10 years with my husband who was born here i agree it is dead in the water rockwell park is a joke i will no longer take our child there. put a fence around the whole place and let the teenagers run it into the ground, another waste of money.
Case be made that's what Kosta brought back to the city empty promises!!!!
