Gamache, Carello learn to dance
Apparently, you can teach an old dog new tricks.
To raise money for a charity aiding military families, two retired city veterans are taking ballroom dancing lessons so they can take the stage without too much embarrassment next month at a gala performance at the Hartford Convention Center.
Former Bristol Veterans Council President Tim Gamache, who is learning to foxtrot, said “a couple of old warhorses” agreed to begin taking lessons in the spring for the “Dancing With Our Heroes” production that pairs veterans with dance instructors.
Gamache and Dave Carello have been going weekly to the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Middletown to learn from instructor Raquel Gomez.
Gamache said she’s been patient with the pair, who started off “very heavy-footed and plodding across the dance floor,” and turned them into something approaching real dancers. Read full story here.
