No change in Ward's condition this morning

City leaders are meeting this morning to talk about how to handle the leadership vacuum created by Mayor Art Ward's hospitalization.
And City Hall itself is somber, by all accounts, as everybody waits and wonders whether Ward will return to the helm soon.
He remains at Bristol Hospital, with no change that anybody's heard about.
Keep him in your prayers.

Why would one be in a "medically induced coma" for choking on a piece of food?

At worse wouldn't one get a tracheotomy? Why would he be put into a coma?

Is there more to this than is being told to us?

Cabt beleive they didnt move him to another hospital yet

Bristol Hospital is not the best place to be in serious condition. Loyality is one thing but not when it comes to your health.

12:08 PM:

Why would one ask such stupid questions?

One would be put in a medically-induced coma to give the brain and body a chance to rest, reduce swelling and allow the healing process to begin. It is standard procedure for asphyxiation patients.

A tracheotomy would only be necessary if the obstrucing object wasn't removed - it was.

There is nothing more to tell you. Please stop with the conspiracy theory crap.

Art was put in a coma because he fought the intubation on Saturday.

3:16 PM, Apology accepted...fool.

Just a litle constructive criticism here, but maybe next time you should educate yourself a little before you make stupid assumptions and then post them in a public forum.

Have a nice day!

Not eveyone is familiar with the medical procedures used to treat Mayor Ward. I trust, 12:08, your comments were innocent and expressed as a matter of concern. I hope others will refrain from rude corrections and rather of us hope and pray for the Mayor Ward's quick and complete recovery.

6:06 PM, It wasn't 12:08's lack of familiarity with medical procedures that I was so taken aback with, but his/her insinuation/innuendo that there was some sort of secret being withheld about the Mayor's condition. Even if there was some information not being released to the public, that should be left to the family's discretion.

I too hope others will refrain from rude comments, rumors and innuendo, and respect the Mayor's and his family's privacy during this difficult time.

A little sensitive there huh? Also talk abouit name calling? I would wager most people would not think that one would be induced into a coma from choking on food. It seems to me that it would be better to be fully conscious when being revived from such an incident as Ward suffered. I merely thought that perhaps he had a stroke of a heart attack and for no reason in particular the information was not released. As far as respecting the family and mayor Ward, Mr/Ms. December 7, 2010 11:47 AM, it's too late for that now thanks to you. You have turned this into a nasty negative fight, typical of the piece of trash you are.

Not sensitive, not talking about name calling (although you are quite good at it). I would wager most intelligent people wouldn't push for details or comment on such a personal matter "for no particular reason," because THAT is very disrespectful.

The doctor will make a statement when he gets off the golf course. This is BRISTOL maybe he will give his report to the chief to read give him s0mething to do .

Apparently logic isn't something you're good at. If this is a personal matter then perhaps you should shut up about it yourself?

Perhaps if this is a "personal matter" it wouldn't be on the front page of the paper? It is the right of the people to know what's really going on with the top elected offical. Is that why the press (small p) constantly reminded the American public about VP and VP candidate Dick Cheney's heart condition, because the press knew it was a "personal matter"? The same could be said for almost every elected offical in the country.

I woudn't say you're "good" at name calling just guilty of the charge as well as being a hypocrite and apparently a moron.

Keep it up.

Apparently, class is something you'll never have. The particulars of the Mayor's medical condition are none of your business...PERIOD.

I didn't say I was good at name calling. YOU are definitely the PRO.

Nice.

You're correct in a way. Only a fool would engage in any conversation with someone like you.
