After coming up short in her own bid for a state legislative seat in the 77th District, Republican Jill Fitzgerald is now working as a legislative aide for Jason Welch, the new GOP state senator from Bristol.

It's a shame the majority of people involved in politics are more concerned about securing jobs for themselves than ideology or good policy.

Is that why she ran?

An insider goes even more inside.

I didn't know the House GOP used Quikbooks. She must be a good typist.

Good for her, she is a very nice person. The rest of you are all jerks

Good for you, Jill! She is an extremely honest, hard-working person and I am speaking from the other side of the aisle. I have known her for many years and there is not, and I repeat, there is not a single untrustworthy bone in her body. Mr. Welch is lucky to have her.

You all make it seem like its a high paying state job - it pays something like 5k and its part-time...

Steve - why don't you clarify what the job is instead of making it out like she hit the lotto with the State of CT Department of Labor.

Now we know why
republicans are not interested in continuing unemployment assistance

OH MY GOSH!!!! For a man who said he was NOT a politician and was NOT going to become one, Welch quickly forgot what he told the people that elected him. Well Bristol, how does it feel to be had by a MASTER POLITICIAN?

So THAT’S why Jill ran… full well knowing she would lose to Wright…to get a J-O-B with state benefits! Let’s see if she wants state employees to take cuts now that SHE has state bennies.

2 politicians cut from the same lousy cloth. Now they all get to live high on our tax money.

Boy, it didn’t take long for Welch to show his true politician colors now did it?
Once a slimy lawyer, always a slimy lawyer!

Will someone tell Jill she has to be nice to ALL people now (in her new job) instead of being "snooty"?

Lighten up, people. Jill is a good person and will work hard for the person that we elected.

Jill is a great person, knowledgeable abd capable.

But apparently she doesn't know Bristol and ist's people: otherwise she would have bested Chris Wright.

Next time Republicans bitch about Democratic inbreeding between elected positions and staff please Democrats feel free to remind them of this.

Political cronyism is alive and well in CT. It's the worst kind of inbreeding that keeps out talented people for the politically connected.

Oh please! It's a freakin' clerks job.

What about Ellen Zoppo Sassu as head of the Family Center? Did you say anything about that?

If you need an assistant would you hire someone you have worked with in some capacity who shares your goals or pull someone off the street?

There is a reason elected officials often hire people that work with or on their campaigns. There is already an established level of trust. They have proven they can work together when things are going well and not so well. They have proven they can keep things close to the vest.

As long as the person has some experience that allows them to fit into the position I have no problem with it. Whether Democrat or Republican.

Nice try 5:27 It pays a hell of a lot more than that and it is a full time job. You should either stop lying or know what you're talking about.

Of course a job like this is political. The job is politcs! As was said here prior, one would want someone that shares the asme political views and passion.
It's a non-issue, unless of course she was promised this beforehand, then it stinks a bit.

I was hoping she'd have taken a job at The Rockstar. I'd be there every night!

So the question for all you caring taxpayer republicans. Is it proper for us taxpayers to pay for Jill and Jason and his famolies benefits? That's 10 people. But that's on because they are republicans right?

6:46 Sounds like you can't find a woman. You poor sick soul!

9:33 Who was it Welch had to fight to give her the job?

Anonymous said...

4:20 You forgot Jill's family and lucritive benefits package. That's a lot of money taxpayers have to fork out. Especially for so-called conservatives.

1:24 Just another republican shooting off his mouth and not caring that he doesn't know what he is talking about. It is not a clerk and it is a full time job with Benefits. You're just another big mouth conservative.

What no comments from the Conservative peanut gallery? Kinda obvious don't you think? Hypocrites are still out there . Where are they ?

I guess you all must go by"If you don't have anything good to say don't say anything at all" Maybe you can't say anything good.
