City eyes future of Memorial Boulevard School

With Memorial Boulevard School set to close in 2012, city leaders are taking steps to figure out its future.
City councilors unanimously agreed recently to devote as much as $72,000 to study the city’s space needs and determine if the building may be useful for municipal department offices, the police or the senior center.
“We have to start thinking about what we’re going to do,” city Councilor Cliff Block said Friday.
Spurring officials to take action is the necessity of dealing with major problems with the heating and air conditioning system at the Beals Senior-Community Center.  Click here for full story.

-Wow what a profound idea! That would be something totally new to the Bristol "leaders".

Move the Senior Center into the Memorial Blvd School. That will place more people in the downtown area. Once businesses/entertainment starts to take hold at Depot Square you will need every person available to spend money to make any businesses successful.

Block-head:

As a constituent in your district I'm left wondering why you have pledged my tax dollars for two new schools in areas of the city that will serve no one in our district.

I do almost all my shopping on Farmington Ave., which in convenient to me and most if not all the poeple in our district. But here you go again, spending our money on something the majority of residents of the 1st District have no interest in.

You are a total disappointment.

since bristol is becoming a town of elderly, convert it to senior housing just like they did w/ patterson school (which was just about as old and decrepit, right?).

the seniors maybe be careful crossing the boulevard though.

And not very well I might add.

Suggest that the council check on any restrictions on this property based on how they came to own it.

There to stupid to do any checking,

I believe that that's known as the pot calling the kettle black. Sorry, bud, but where I come from, spelling and punctuation still count for something. Especially if you're accusing others of being stupid.

I can't believe its this difficult for our elected officials to figure out what to do with the Memorial Boulevard School. Move City Hall and other city services to it freeing up downtown space for more development and get rid of the eye sores that are municipal buildings. Do we really want people coming into the city and see a senior center???

IM sure you got the idea. The city is in trouble. With no leadership called bad politics BRISTOL is being taken over by wellfare. Your so smart why not help outand open your eyes.

We did get the idea. You can't be taken seriously. Do you honestly think anyone values the opinion of someone who can't spell and is barely literate?
