Fitzgerald vows to keep regular office hours

Press release from Republican state House candidate Jill Fitzgerald in the 77th District:

If elected as the 77th District’s new state representative, Republican candidate Jill Fitzgerald will hold monthly office hours in Bristol to give constituents whose job and family responsibilities make it difficult for them to travel to Hartford the opportunity to meet with her at a convenient location in the district.
“One of the reasons state Representative Ron Burns has been such an effective legislator is that he has never lost touch with the citizens of the 77th District,” Fitzgerald said. “By dedicating two hours on the third Saturday of each month to meet with citizens at the Giamatti Little League Center, Ron remains in close contact with the people he represents. In addition to being there in person to help constituents who are having problems that need to be resolved at the state level, conducting local office hours helps Ron stay on top of the issues that are most important to them.”
“If you choose me as your next state representative, I will do everything I can to make sure my votes and actions at the General Assembly accurately reflect your views and respond to the most critical needs of our district and our city. As your voice at the state legislature, holding regular monthly office hours is one of the best ways I can think of to learn what issues are most important to you and your family,” Fitzgerald said. “As a working parent, I understand that your family and job commitments could make it difficult for you to travel to Hartford to meet with me and for that reason, I will hold regular local office hours once a month in much the same way as Ron has done.”
“With gasoline prices still at more than $4.00 per gallon, most middle class families are trying to limit their driving to trips that are absolutely necessary. Holding office hours in the district will mean you won’t have to travel to Hartford to meet with me – and it will help you conserve gasoline and save a few dollars as well,” Fitzgerald said.

Jill Fitzgerald would be such a great addition to the state legislature and she would be an excellent representative of Bristol.

this idea was initiated by mayor ward and representative ron burns years ago when they were both on the council, they both helped me out a lot.
too bad none of our present councilmembers think about giving some time like this to hear the people.

I can only imagine if Chris Wrong wins and has office hours. One would go to be heard and all you'd get is his whining about "Reaganomics" and his recitation of other left wing propoganda.

Jill, don't know who you are listening to, but you are going to need more than Office Hours as a platform.

Who is this Jill Fitzgerald? Did she crawl out of the woodwork? I never heard of her being involved in anything in Bristol before. Does she have a chance of getting in?

How about, "she isn't a tax and spend whining, bitter, neo-socialist liberal like Chris Wrong"?

Jill is a nice person, a capable person, who has virtually no awareness of the political process.

I do believe that she is getting used.

she was on mccauley's campaign staff last election - maybe she is like minor and will switch her position whenever it is opportune for her.
go craig go, someplace other than here and take mccauley with you.

Is it a coincidence that McCauley is close to Kenny Johnson and that now Jill, who worked for McCauley is running for office?

Wasn't McCauley opposed to Gardner Wright serving on the BDDC?

Simple math: add 2 and 2 and 2 and you get 6.

Who cares?

Anything (including Roger Michele) is better than Chris Wright!!

12:15 - yeah but your not stuck with the ego-maniac that we have to listen to - nicastro. if he ever takes the "I" out of his vocabulary, he'll be speechless. hmm, not a bad thought at all.

Just for the record, Jill never switched positions - Jill supported McCauley because she felt he was the best man for the job, regardless of party affiliation. Isn't that they way it's SUPPOSED to be? The person - not the party? Also, to correct one other statement made - she was McCauley's treasurer in his first campaign, not his last. Honestly, we need more people like Jill doing what is right, and following her convictions.

I hope she understands all that when she loses. She is still a turncoat. And a politician. Open game for name callers!

Knowing Jill I think she is the kind of lady that doesn't need these jerks help. I also don't think that she will condone their trash !

Nice but a phone call don't cost any gas and you don't even have to leave home!

yep, guess that it is easier to resort to name calling rather than constructiveness if you are a bone-headed, nimble brained parasite sucking off society, lamely lambasting everything in the name of political correctness, of which your pea-brained imbecilic mass of waste, referred to as a brain (sic), struggles to see the light of day or anything akin to sensibility - never mind, I probably lost you after "yep" anyhow.

You think you're special cause you can name call? LMAO you are nothing but what you call others and a few to boot. You don't scare me with your name calling. You are funny at least I can say that much about you. And as far as sucking you do pretty well on here patting your useless self on the back!

She may not "condone" their trash, but apparently she did work to get them in position to promulgate that trash.

True 3:47 but I thought she might be above those jerks! I could be wrong ! Unlike the republicans who are always right. At least in theitr eyes.
