Just a question for the zoning dept .
If the school ends up being built @ this location will I be grandfathered in ???
My successful business has been operating bordering this site for several years , and if the school is built here I will definitely be within a newly created Drug free zone and I don't think it's fair .
Have any other sites been discussed? It seems that they are trying to decide which of the lesser evils to chose instead of doing further research to find an appropriate site.
For those of you that have not been following this, and probably other key isues, this effort started many many months back.
The City (BOE) hired a consultant to find, explore and review possible sites.
They looked at many, outlined maybe 6-7, and after discussion with city officials, narrowed it down to 3--Chippens, West End, Scalia.
The approriate building committee was formed, recommended Scalia.
City Council shot it down, sent it back.
The committee, met reviewed things (in the meantime membership changed somewhat), and came back again recommending Scalia as the best site.
That is why it is coming before the council again.
There are limitations such as acreage, environmenmt etc.
The charge is supposedly for Education value: some feel that social engineering should be part of the equation.
But essentially that is it.
