For at least four hours today, and perhaps ongoing, the secretary of state's voter registration computers have been down.
That doesn't help the 169 towns and cities trying to cope with a crush of last-minute registration today.
Democratic Registrar Bob Badal sat with an inch-thich pile of forms handed in today, most of them new voters or people switching from unaffiliated to Democrat so they can help choose between presidential contenders Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton in Tuesday's primary.
It's impossible to say how many have registered since the computer system is the thing that keeps track of all the information.
But it appears that interest among voters proved so high that the crunch on the state's not-particularly-modern computer system knocked it for a loop.
Presumably, it'll be back online this afternoon, but local officials are beginning to fret.
