Ward a possible pick for state vets commissioner

Given the possibility that Mayor Art Ward may be in line for a top state job, at least two politicians in town are making plans in case there’s a special election for mayor in the next couple of months.
Though nobody wants to admit in public that they’re eyeing the mayor’s job while Democrat Art Ward holds it, they are taking steps to run in case Ward leaves City Hall.
According to political insiders, Ward, who’s been mayor since 2007, may be tapped by Gov.-elect Dan Malloy to serve as commissioner or the state Department of Veterans Affairs.
City Republican Party chief T.J. Barnes said Tuesday the GOP “has thought about it” and talked over what it might do in response.
Ward said Monday he has heard nothing from Malloy or his staff about any potential appointment and dismissed it as a rumor.
“I haven’t been contacted by anyone,” Ward said, including Malloy.
Malloy’s staff is keeping mum about possible appointments.  Click here for story.

  8. Ward failed to deliver - Foley won by 1200. I don't doubt Art is on Malloy's list, but I don't think its the commissioner list.

  10. As a service officer for the state, Ward was useless. He will be just as useless as commissioner.
Guess Malloy will be getting a phone call regarding loser Ward, afterall, any service officer who takes advantage of women veterans when they are vulnerable is nothing but slim ball. Right Artie?

Time for a little chat with Malloy and Linda Swartz. to warn them about thier so called pick.

  14. Art Ward will go down in Bristol history as the mayor (democrat and union member) who destroyed organized labor in Bristol.
Good riddance Art. Enjoy your union funded pensions.

The obvious response to that would be to NOT vote for ANY Democrat.

  18. 11:55 - you must be one of those greedy, disgruntled firefighters who the mayor didn't cave into when your leader, ellen bentivengo wanted to rape the city.
The rest of us peons accepted how bad the economy is and were happy just to have our jobs.
Your greed cost both you and your new retirees but the taxpayers won big time.

  28. 2:46 PM, Here's a better idea - leave us Ward and Rosenthal, and YOU leave...that would really be doing Bristol a HUGE favor!

This proves my point. The average A hole on the street is convinced that organized labor is bad. Once you give your employer all the power by becoming an at-will employee there will be no minimum wage but they will put a cap on what wage you get. Bend over and take it , be my guest and create the next slave state, if I go down i will go down fighting.
