A report by the city’s task force on energy consumption urges Bristol to create a new energy manager to oversee municipal efforts to conserve.
The panel also recommends the city take a range of steps to encourage more walking, bicycling and mass transit in town.
The city should also pursue alternative energy options, including photovoltaic cells to turn sunlight into electricity, the report recommends.
The task force, created two years ago at the urging of former city Councilor Craig Minor, has been looking into ways the city could reduce its carbon footprint, save money on energy and become a greener community in general.

ReplyDeleteThis report is just a cut and copy from other reports used across the country. There is barley any related ideas that actually pertain just to the city of Bristol other then the bike trails. What about banning plastic shopping bags from the 50 supermarkets that we have in town. What about offering residents a tax credit to have an energy audit performed on their homes. I give this committee an F. Just a bunch of technical crap that no one will understand.
ReplyDelete8:02 - thank you for clearing everything up for us - idiot.
ReplyDeletefootprint starts with the homeowner and businesses - not at City Hall
ReplyDeleteIs Minor the Pelosi of Brsitol?
ReplyDeleteHow about creeating a panel to look at how to make Connecticut more competitive for businesses and creating jobs? Let's reject these silly liberal-populist ideas and the politics that bring these things forward.
ReplyDeleteHey Idiot 8:02Am is correct. Only people that have a thing for energy will understand that report. I really don't see in the report how you tie in the homeowners or businesses to this green initiative.
ReplyDeleteNext they'll want me to stop burning tires in my backyard .
ReplyDeleteFruitcakes .......
Has anyone thought about preparing a fiscal note for all of the ideas so we can have an understanding about what this all might cost the city and its taxpayers?
ReplyDeleteHey 8:02... where's your first-rate work product you've produced for the city for zero compensation? Where's your energy report? If you're an expert on the topic, why aren't you on the committee? I give YOU an F-. Just some pessimistic creep who contributes nothign but criticism.
ReplyDeleteOf course it's "cut and copy". There's a wealth of ideas that other cities have already come up with. What the Task Force presented are things that are appropriate for Bristol.
ReplyDeleteHomeowners and businesses aren't in the report because that wasn't the Task Force's job. Their job was to find things that the City could do to reduce its consumption and its carbon footprint.

ReplyDeleteSince when has this administration ever considered and evaluated ongoing costs?
Can anyone there do a cost benefit analysis?
And we wonder why our taxes keep going up!!!!!
2:53 - Did you even bother to READ THE report before you made that knee-jerk criticism? I didn't think so. It really is a shame Collins doesn't make people give their names here...it would make them stop and think before typing.

p.s. ..... That way we could have our union officials in charge of all public departments hunt down and persecute them .
just saw the observer, what is this histerical society panel supposed to be doing? Thought that these downtown developer guys were supposed to be doing this stuff?
ReplyDeleteMinor Moron:
ReplyDeleteSorry, I like the comment at 2:53. It's too bad dummies like you who don't appreciate common sense have so much influence.
