State Sen. Tom Colapietro, an 18-year incumbent from Bristol, lost a close race today to Republican challenger Jason Welch.
Colapietro said he wished Welch luck.
"I don't envy him," Colapietro said.
Colapietro fell short mostly because Plymouth and Harwinton voters backed Welch strongly. In Bristol and Plainville, the race was a true squeaker.
Anyone know when Bristol last had a Republican state senator?

ReplyDeleteToo bad Colapietro saved all his class for his exit. It might have turned out differently if he had used some during his campaign.
Not only is there the question ofhow much Welch spent, but also, wher did it come from?

Jason Welch won fair and square. He didn;t attack Colapietro's wife or kids like tommy did.

Definitately a classy exit for Tommy C. Welch was the poster boy for what most voters seemed to be looking for this year.

ReplyDeleteConnecticut has public financing which they both qualifyed for, so they both had the exact same amount of your money to spend on their elections!
While I don't approve of public financing, it sure helped Jason to even the playing field
Again, it will be nice to know just how much each spent, where, and where from.
