Voters may get a chance this fall to decide whether to let mayors and city councilors serve for four years at a time instead of running for office every two years.
The Charter Revision Commission is recommending the change in the city’s century-old governmental blueprint.
Having twice as much time to get things done — and only half as many municipal elections — would allow elected officials more chance to push through their agendas before facing voters again, charter commissioners said.
