Nicastro backs Ward

Former Mayor Frank Nicastro said today that city councilors had no business trying to micromanage Jonathan Rosenthal, the city's economic development director.
The city's day to day operations, Nicastro said, are the responsibility of the mayor.
"In fact," Nicastro said, "I had to remind Mayor Ward of that when he was a councilor. And now I'm sure he understands."
Nicastro, who's a state representative now, said Ward's comments at the council session Tuesday "were 100 percent right."

  2. and we care what frank says because?

  3. Ha Ha! Although Frank is correct it is still so funny to me that you will never get a quote about anything from Frank without him throwing himself into the subject. "I" had to remind him of that.

Does he need to lead a How to Be a Mayor orientation class? LMAO

  5. Yep, While even in this horrific economy towns bordering us still manage to attract solid tax stable businesses these "two great guys" have a total of what 20+ years of experience combined? Businesses have left, tax rolls are shrinking, taxes WILL go up but yet once again, how do these border towns manage to do it? Is it something magical, something in the water? No. they are bringing concrete ideas to the city council table and concrete solutions to in effect market and do what is best for thier towns. Really not hard to do unless you get a 22% voter turn out and keep voting for the status quo, but hey, you get what you vote for. How much money alone is this squabbeling costing the tax payers? Hire some more convicted felons. We've already had numerous DWI, DUI and crooked police officers and leaders, why not appoint felons to run the whole town?

  8. "In fact," Nicastro said, "I had to remind Mayor Ward of that when he was a councilor. And now I'm sure he understands."

Can Nicastro ever make a statement that does not include "I"?

  9. why doesn't nicastro remember that he was elected as a legislator to do something in hartford rather than wasting his days looking in the mirror?

  10. Nicastro is the reason we have the problem with Rosenthal.

  11. What a shocker! Mayor Frank supports Ward supporting Rosenthal, who he supported, AND gives him a little I told you so slap at the same time.

Don't worry Mayor Frank, we all know you were the best Mayor of all time. LOL! - you loser!

  12. typical "I love me"March 11, 2010 at 9:59 PM

you call that a "backing?", more like a nicastro "look at me" stab in the back.

  13. Nicastro is perhaps the most successful politician in the city's history. Elected as mayor five straight times, defeating two former mayors along the way and easily winning every time. Then he knocked out a longtime incumbent Democratic legislator and went on to win the state House seat in a blowout.
Say what you will about his record in office, but the voters have spoken time and again.
So, yes, what he says does matter.

  14. I can just hear the trumpets blaring as Mayor Frank approaches the podium to give this brilliant statement.

Geez I sure hope he stretches out every day before he starts patting himself on the back.

  16. see by the paper that toupe' tommie got his way with the sunday drinking law - maybe now he can do something for us - like represent us as he was elected to do instead of all of his political crooies.

  17. Steve, maybe the most successful POLITICIAN, but certainly not the most successful ELECTED OFFICIAL!!!

Look at what he left behind.

  18. At the time frank got the Italian pitty vote. They figured he couldnt get a real job so they helped him. Then he turned on them.

  19. Naturely Nicastro would back Ward. Ward is one of the original "Nicastrcrats" and apparently Steve is also. Someday some real Democrats may control the city again.

  20. Frank is all about Frank. A lot of (if not all of) the city's current problems can be traced back to how he ran Bristol as Mayor. At the time not raising taxes and just letting things go may have sounded great but now we have to pay for the past. History will show that because of Frank, Bristol fell apart. So yes Frank remains popular because he is a nice guy but wow what a terrible manager he turned out to be.

  21. Totally nothing more than Frank Nicastro arrogance.

  22. Blah, Blah Blah the anti everything Republicans are at it again (or should I stay still) Who cares what these nayasayers think.

  23. I was in court the day they got the verdic on the bugryn case . Rosenthal the bald headed lawyer lacy and frank were celebrating like bristol won the lottery. Glad that it wasnt my family home stead.

It is clear that the Republicans won't.

They are blowing a wonderful opportunity.

  25. Council is trying to do SOMETHING because Ward does NOTHING. Department heads, appointees and the chamber of commerce run the city while Ward bar hops and Nicastro blusters and blunders his way up the ladder patting himself on the back as he goes.

  26. Poboy, you sound more like a whiny little boy with a very, very BIG chip on his shoulder...

  27. Jonathan Rosenthal sure does drive a nice flashy car. I guess he needs to show off on his way home to ritzy Easton CT every day. Does the city pay his insurance and commuting mileage?

For people defending Rosenthal, don't you get it, this lazy bum DOES NOT CARE ABOUT BRISTOL, we're just his gravy train meal ticket.

Then again, Bristol pays out tons of money to the Nicastro and Ward families, and will keep paying them money for a very long time because they have milked the system real good.

  28. Maybe Stortz wasn't so bad after all

    ReplyDelete
  29. People like our present council and the nicastro brothers will kill the city with there stupid ways.

  30. City Council should stay out of personal issues period! That should be left to the Mayor, Department heads and Human Resource manager. City Council should be more worried about trying to keep taxes down right now.

    ReplyDelete
  31. City Council should learn what their role officially is.

    ReplyDelete
  32. city council should be worried about what they were elected to do rather than "zoppo-ing" department heads. I t didn't work when she tried it and it won't work this time either.

  33. 2:18

MAYOR should the one concerned about taxes.

    That is HIS job!!!

  34. 10:42 And this blog and you are all about the nasty republicans! Keep up the good work and make the Republicans even more ashamed .

    ReplyDelete
  35. I can't believe that mayor ward would consider this as a real positive backing from nicastro, more like a definate back-stabbing.

    Wouldn't be the first!

  37. They deserve each other.

  38. Is Frank behind Arts move to oust Colapoetro?

Would make Frank the senior democrat bristol legislator.
