Legislators under fire on mandate relief

City leaders are growing increasingly irritated that Bristol’s legislators haven’t done more to remove costly unfunded mandates.
Mayor Art Ward said he can’t seem to find anyone in the General Assembly to champion the idea of lifting expensive requirements forced on cities and school systems across Connecticut. Click here for the story.

  2. Further proof that Ward cannot, does not, work with anyone!

Just think what this is costing us.

And with a four year term he would be even more abrasive.

  3. This is only proof that our legislators aren't doing their job. Ward is the one calling on them on the carpet. A four year term for him sounds good to me.

  4. Gee last I heard the Democrats took the cut to municipalities out of the governors budget. How'd they do that if they don't do anything? Don't believe everything you read.

  6. hartford - 1 minus 2 = 6March 4, 2010 at 3:26 PM

1:09 - but that only addressed what they more that they were going to do to further grab monies from the cities, nothing to do with relief from existing mandates - which is the real issue.

3:26 - wrong, 6 minus 2 = 40 in hartford, ask the dingbats who represent us - opps, screwed that one up - ask the dingbats who were elected to represent us but don't have a clue, or the ba-ls, to make a decision unless they are told how to vote.

  10. Hmm are mandates the only problem we have to deal with? There are a lot more people hurting than the Cities. Try taking on something unique if you can Remember this all started with the moneybags in the stock market. Etc Mocababy and company !

  11. I love how folks want to blame the republicans. They are not the ones in power! They do not hold a majority and only hold the governor's seat for now. The democrats have most if not all the control and can fix this so stop all the whining about the "big bad republicans" and encourage your legislators (most of whom are democrats) to do their jobs already.
