I never thought I'd say this, but...

You may actually want to watch tonight's City Council session.
I know, I know. That's crazy talk.
But, seriously, it appears that the council's push to have a little talk about the supposed failings of the city's economic development director, Jonathan Rosenthal, may not be held behind closed doors after all.
Instead, it may be held out in the open, right there on your tellyvision. Rosenthal apparently figures his critics have already raked him over the coals in public so why not force them to say whatever they have to say in public?
It probably makes a future lawsuit easier.
So get out the chips, make sure you've got a few cold ones ready and prepare for a rare council session that might not put you to sleep.
The meeting starts at 7 p.m. It's on Nutmeg Community Television's government channel tonight -- Channel 96 on Comcast.

  3. I hope Nutmeg TV gets it right this time. They didn't broadcast last month, and maybe not the month before.

  4. It will be interesting to see how Ward handles this meeting, or will he let the lawyers bail him out?

When will Rosenthal come up for renewal? No discussion needed then>

  5. All I know is that I'm sick of all the trash talk about Mayor Art Ward.

He's doing a good job and he's a good man.

  7. We should have a vote of no confidence on the whole group for not taking stepsagainst the chief and fergason the biggest waste public works. Not just this guy because he cant vote in bristol.

  8. They ought to charge admission: it would be worth it to see Artie squirm.

  9. Maybe the council should be discussing Wards performance.

    Or have they?

Ironically, key players like Fergie, Rosenthal, Klocko, Veselka, Water Superintendent, Tax Collector, other top two in Controllers, do not live in Bristol.

    What a crazy system.

  10. What does Rosenthal have on Ward. Seems like Arty keeps protecting him.

  11. Jonathan will hide behind his lawyer because he can't stand being his work!
He's just another example of Union's protecting a lazy woker who other wise would be fired!

  12. Wonder how many lawyers will be in teh audience?

  17. No way Corp. Counsel will allow this. I am sure he'll advise that this is a "personnel matter" and that it should be discussed in executive session. Good tease to up the ratings Steve!

  18. Rosenthal wants it public, they'll be feeding into him if it is. He's very spiteful against this City, don't think for a minute he has any true, honest intentions here.

  19. You're correct Steve. ward will be too busy tonight to send you his notes, so you'll actually have to be there this time. Come election time, it'll be back to the old way. Don't worry.

  20. If I had to use Ward's notes to write stories, you'd have no idea what happened.

  21. What happened should i guess nothing. Bristol finest showing there colors. Hey steve ever check on Mills shoveling snow for the elderly. Is the answer nothing.

  22. Watching this council on tv is enough to make you sick. Then you wonder why people in other towns laugh at Bristol. They say you could train a monkey what happened to this group.

i watched the council meeting last night, will someone please put mccauly's cast over his mouth, he never shuts up but never says anything either.
he even admitted last night that he rambles on over nothing. maybe he should watch and listen to himself on nutmeg tv to see how ridiculous he is.

  24. Ward is protecting Rosenthal, just like Wrd is protecting the Emergency Director. City Tax payers are paying for this guy to live in Florida.
    What's up with that Steve?

    ReplyDelete
  25. 11:08 AM: No need for Ward to protect Rosenthal. He seems like a very capable, intelligent gentleman. It's the rest of the city council that I'd worry about. Some of them, judging by their performance last night, look like they'd have trouble walking and chewing gum at the same time. Now there's a group that needs protecting! ;0)

  31. If McCauley didn't support Rosenthal 3 years ago, Rosenthal would have been gone.

    Thanks Kevin.

  32. if mccauley did anything that ellen didn't tell him to do, it would be a first.

And now you know why we still have Rosenthal as the BDA Exec. Director.
