Executive session slated to talk about Rosenthal

Tonight's City Council Revised Addenda includes an executive session to talk about the negotiations with Renaissance Downtowns, as expected, and another "to discuss personnel matters regarding Ex. Director of Bristol Development Authority.
The BDA boss is Jonathan Rosenthal, who's been a political pinata for several years.
It seems that at least some politicians are ready to take another whack at him.

  1. Steve, I believe stating Rosenthal is a "political pinata" is a bit out of line, Rosenthal brought this on himself. Everyone should be accountable for their own actions, or lack thereof. since the Mayor seems to waffle so much on this matter, we should be grateful that we have the Council to represent the City. It's about time people are really seeing this man for what he is NOT- an effective leader, a positive figure for our city and a trusting human being.

Hey Kate! Are you going to appoint Bruce Suchinski to another post? How about Ethics chairman?

  3. Jonathan has made a pinata of himself.
He seems to walk around doing, or not doing, things that say "KICK ME".

It is time for him to be gone.

But he owes Ward big time!

  4. Quick observation:
Most of the council think that they are the mayor, and the mayor doesn't act like he is.

  5. Did Cockayne ever look at, let alone read, the contracts?

    And the charter?

  6. Steve look up the company the guy said Rosenthal was looking to move to Bristol. The company doesnt exist.

Sounds like Rosenthal has brought in one of his friends to say how good he is.

  7. Roshenthal has not done anything but make everyone fall a sleep with his booring talk...everyone is complaining about what he has not done...(because we do not see what he has done in the last few years)...Mayor Ward, just let him go...what is there to think about or consider?...he is a liability!...the people has spoken...let him go and...next!!!...just look for accomplishments in the next candidate!

  8. Jonathan wins again!

One professional politician beats six AMATEUR politicians.

    Guess who was advising Rosenthal.

  9. 10:47, The people haven't spoken...some of the city councilmen have. They have no REAL complaints other than the fact that Rosenthal doesn't go with their flow so, as cowards usually do, they try to gang up on him. Unfortunately, their school yard tactics only make them look like overgrown children. It's actually kind of embarrassing.

  12. obviously the discussion was not in executive session, 5:54. It was slated all along to be a public session. What disgusts me is that it seems to be that the mayor is the one who directs the BDA director and is responsible for any discipline that is bestowed upon him. So if there is nothing in his file or if the rosenthal has been screwing up and the mayor doesn't formally do anything about it, nothing can be done to him and we will continue to have no development in this town.

It is obvious that the mayor, who has no skill set with regard to what qualifications the BDA director must have, has not been properly disciplining rosenthal for his obvious poor performance in his job, which now explains why he was so adamant last night about not wanting to participate in the public hearing.

  13. Steve it must be painfull for you to sit through a meeting with these fools.By time this is over it will cost a lot of money in legal fees. Remember the bugryns. This group must have got educated by nicastro and stortz. The two worst mayors bristol ever had

  14. 8:28, The only thing that's really obvious is that the city council came out of this looking like a bunch of stump jumpers who don't have a clue. LMFAO!!!

  15. After seeing this on T.V. I`AM on board that the personal director needs to do a better job doing her job. Rosenthal is not the only one at fault that `s the bottom line
