Stortz asking people if they'd back him?

Heard a few stories today about former Mayor William Stortz poking around about the possibility of running for mayor again. But I can't say if they're right or not.
And it could be he's actually eyeing a City Council race.

  1. I voted for Stortz twice and would have again in the last election. However I've been pleased with the the job Ward is performing and will support him for a second term.

  2. Stortz hasn't talked to anybody that I know of: knowing Bill, I doubt that he has approached anyone

  3. I'm also really pleased with the job ward has done and will be supporting his reelection.

  4. If you are pleased with what Ward has done...tell us what he has done besides give away the city to the unions?

  5. Stortz talks the talk but can't walk the walk because he abuses people. He is not a kind person.

  6. Ward has stood up to Rosenthal! With the rest of the council he has kept property down, though more work is needed there to reduce them.

  7. Ward is doing the same thing. Ward caters to the unions and his good ole boys.

  8. Stortz wanted to get rid of the useless Rosethal and Ward fought to keep the lazy over paid worker. So how is Ward doing the taxpayers any favors by keping someone like this on the payroll?

    Ward is moving Bristol BACKwards.

  9. one blogger accuses ward of being a union flunkey while another lambasts him for sticking it to the unions - which is it? can't have it both ways; maybe you can on these blogs because no one is responsible anyhow.

    Sounds like Rosenthal lives.

  11. Stortz burned the very people who worked their butts off on his behalf to get him elected. So I am not sure who he is asking unless he has found a new group of supporters. I've been there - done that and he no longer has my support.

  12. And what did stortz do except sell the city up the river?

  13. "give away the city to the unions"???

What cave are you living in? Do you ever actually read the Bristol Press?

  14. What council district does Stortz live in?

  15. How can one get burned by working for someone unless they ask for a "favor" which isn't granted.

While some mayors think differently, jobs and favors are not the mayors to give away.

Do any of you have any examples of how you "got burned"?

Did you work for the candidate because you thought they were the right choice for the city, or because you wanted something in return.

The real problem with politics is that too many people think they are owed something for their "vote".
Dodd is a good example at a much higher level.

  16. Stortz lives in Burlington.

  17. Say what you want, the mere mention of the rumor has created quite a stir, judging by the responses on this website. No media coverage is ever truly bi-partisan. Stortz is nobody's fool, and he's savvy enough to understand there's no such thing as bad publicity.

  18. How can any one cater to a faceless coward like these big mouth "good ol boys" on here?

  19. ...putting "Stortz" and "savy" in the same sentence is a bit of a stretch.

  20. Another pyrrhic victory for the Republicans!

  21. Stortz should run for mayor, we need him.

  22. It's getting to be election season and he has to have his name in the papers for the sole sake of validation.

    He's just playing games.

  23. Stortz lives in Bristol on the Burlington line.

Did anyone catch the people that threw the brick through his window?

He can't be Mayor or City Councilor again. He would never win, and he knows it.

  24. 6:18, 6:21 (the same person?)

I think that he would win either election if he chose to run, and I am not alone in that thinking.

As far as his name in the papers, I haven't seen where he has initiated any of it: it is us on the blogs and the media that is doing it.

Has anyone given an example of "getting burned"? Except of course, not getting a city job or position?

  25. I agree with 1:00

We need Stortz to straighten out this mess.

He is capable, and has nothing to lose.

Too bad the power elite is afraid of him!

  26. Actually, people should be asking Stortz to run and OFFERING to back him.

  27. Get rid of the real two-face= WARD.

  28. "Too bad the power elite is afraid of him!"

    Afraid of Stortz???? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

If they aren't afraid of him, why aren't they considering him for mayor?

    They don't have anyone else

    ReplyDelete
  30. 9:25 - cuz he's just not interested in running...no fear factor here.

    ReplyDelete
  31. 9:18

How do YOU know, how do THEY know?

Have you, they, talked with him?

    ReplyDelete
  32. The fear is/was that he would run and get elected.
