Special City Council session today re a major union contract

NOTICE OF SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING
There will be a Special Meeting of the Bristol City Council to be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at 5:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers, 111 North Main Street, Bristol, Connecticut.
AGENDA
1. To convene into Executive Session to discuss the tentative agreement between the City of Bristol and Local #233.
2. To reconvene into Public Session to discuss and take any action as necessary regarding the tentative agreement between the City of Bristol and Local #233 and referral to Board of Finance for any necessary action.
3. To adjourn.

    I believe it's the union representing mostly the workers inside City Hall.

    Can you imagine having to attend a "special meeting" for something so trivial? I mean these bums and their bloated salaries can't wait until a regular meeting?

    How convenient, another special council session, this time to address union issues that will no doubt be objectionable to the public. This way Ward can get by with minimum public attention and scrutiny. Probably no video cameras for a special session either. Way to conduct open government Mayor Ward! Right now the city needs to lay off some of these people, and Ward will probably announce that the union has agreed to a smaller raise than usual, and they will try and make it look like they are being very generous to the taxpayers.

    If the mill rate increases in 2009 even a .25 point..I think there should be some sort of revolt! in these trying times the city should lower the rate and start to cut certain services. If Ken Cockayne and Ken Johnson want to do something..They should get a petition together that would require a tax payer vote to raise taxes and approve city budgets. This special meeting at city hall better be to discuss nothing but how the health care bill will be paid for.
