Ward says he hasn't decided about an assistant

In the wake of the public's refusal to create a chief operating officer for City Hall, Mayor Art Ward said Wednesday he’s not sure whether he will ask the City Council to allow him to hire an assistant.

“That’s something I’m going to be evaluating in the next several months,” Ward said.

He said he has meetings scheduled soon with state development officials about the mall property and a few other issues. The result of those talks may determine which direction the mayor will go, he said.

Ward said he may decide soon, but he won’t be asking the council for the position at next week’s meeting.

Insiders said he’s considering hiring former city attorney Ed Krawiecki, Jr, who has experience dealing with the state Department of Economic and Community Development. But Ward said he hasn’t even decided if he wants to have the position.

There’s a chance, too, that the council may create an assistant for itself.

  4. I lost a lot of faith in Art when he wrote a letter backing Denski. He wasn't looking out for Bristol's best interests...

  12. wasn't the minor, cockayne, johnson rationale for the coo that the mayor's office was in need of help because the responsibilities were overwhelming?

  13. As a city hall employee, I feel that if Mayor Ward spent his time more efficiently, and on city business, he wouldn't need an assistant.

Let the dept heads do their job and things will run better.

His predecessor was in early almost everyday (about 7:00AM)

    Where is the Mayor?

  16. 9:00

    Could be a vacation day.

    Could be a sick day.

Could be I work a different schedule.

Could be that this mayor has no problem with us using the computers.

Could be people in city hall have eyes, ears, and share information.

  17. 3:25 - could also be that you are one of the dirt bags who are dragging the rest of us down. Keep screwing around and we'll all be looking for jobs, fool.

  18. If Ward selected Cockayne, Collins job would be easy: he'd only have to go to the mayors office to get all the "news that is fit to print"

the mayor says you can use the computer during the day too.

  20. 5:34 - ...er, I think he means to actually WORK on the computer, not go on line to tattle and gossip.

  21. 4:05pm - correct, because cockayne wouldn't know how to interpret anything positive or truthful so he wouldn't be in the mayor's office too long - that's for sure.
hopefully, we can dump his negative butt next November along with his sweetheart minor.

Bet he doesn't have the usage monitored!

Just last year there was significant misuse, which was brought to a halt until Ward changed the policy.

    Now it is a playground.

  23. "Now it is a playground"

How in the hell could you possibly know that?

  24. Cut the Library hours, add an assistant for the mayor.

Increase the fee for yard waste pickup, add another assistant in the mayors office.

    Where is the common sense?

  25. Ward selected Ragaini, but can't get the Council to buy in.
