Two Republican candidates emerge

For the 31st state Senate district race against longtime incumbent Democrat Tom Colapietro, the GOP is pinning its hopes on Joe Geladino, a colorful character who ran unsuccessfully for a City Council seat last year.
And in the 79th House District, where Democratic state Rep. Frank Nicastro has held office for two years, the Republicans are backing Derek Jerome, who's been active in GOP politics for years.
State Rep. Ron Burns, the Republican incumbent in the 77th District, told me today that he still hasn't made up his mind about whether he'll seek a second term. He said he'll make a decision soon, though.
The Democrats are counting on Christopher Wright to pick up the 77th House seat this time around.

  3. Can anyone say "sacrificial lamb"??

  4. Evidently there will be no serious challange to Nicastro, just some future wrangling for position on the Republican town committee. These people put the term "rat" in "rat race".

zzzzzz wake me up when it's over.

  5. Jerome brings business experience, family values, and a new perspective to the 79th district. A much more compelling choice than Tax 'em Nicastro, who has never spent 1 day in the private sector his whole life.

  6. Jerome wasn't able to beat Diamantis, what makes him think he's going to have a better chance beating the almighty Nicastro?

Geladino is just out of his league.

If Ron decides to run then Wright will feel the pain of a loss also.

And the chic in Terryville running against Hamzy is just a plain joke. It's like Courtney Love running against Obama.

  7. Joe, time to throw in the towel!

A clean sweep for the Ds.

The Rs are on a slippery slpoe.

  9. When Geladino wins, he will then run for Council next year, just like Nicastro.

  10. I have heard that the District 1 Chairman will run against Wright if Ron does not run. He works at Aetna and has a ton friends with money. I cant remember his name...

  13. The GOP needs to do a better job at finding candidates that will actually have a chance at winning.

Where is Tim Lodge? He should be running against one of these guys. Not Geladino.

And Jerome is a 2 time loser which means that he will lose a 3rd time.

Not off on a very good foot GOP! Give us some candidates that have some credibility!!!!!

  14. 8:26 and just what is that ? Naysayer (hate monger)?

  15. Having a BIG mouth should not be the basis for selection as a candidate.

Besides, if Artie gives Joey a city job, he will capitulate. That is really what he is looking for!

When you don't have the facts you should really shut your fat mouth. Nicastro spent a number of years with Pratt & Whitney and well over a decade working for John Hancock before he started his political career.

Now go crawl back into your imaginary world!

    1) 2000 = Jerome
    2) 2002 = Jerome
    3) 2004 = ?
    4) 2006 = Raymond

  27. The Republican have met their goal: they now will have a full slate, which is better than last year.

Next they will be working on quality.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Why didn't Kenny Cockayne run against Colapietro?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Geladino, clean up your property on Main Street. Otherwise McCauley won't vote for you

    ReplyDelete
  30. Cause he knows Geladino is the better man.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Why don't you ???

    ReplyDelete
  32. Because the Republicans want Geladino.

    ReplyDelete
  33. When is Burns going to make up his mind?

Seems like he is leaving the Republican party in the lurch.

How will they find anybody at the last minute?

  53. Do you really think there will be any thing left for the unions, police, city workers, anyone. CT is billions of dollars in debt. Say goodbye to your retirement unions bye bye. I come from a State that they did just that and took all and you are in worse shape. I am here for work and living with my friend.
