For the 31st state Senate district race against longtime incumbent Democrat Tom Colapietro, the GOP is pinning its hopes on Joe Geladino, a colorful character who ran unsuccessfully for a City Council seat last year.
And in the 79th House District, where Democratic state Rep. Frank Nicastro has held office for two years, the Republicans are backing Derek Jerome, who's been active in GOP politics for years.
State Rep. Ron Burns, the Republican incumbent in the 77th District, told me today that he still hasn't made up his mind about whether he'll seek a second term. He said he'll make a decision soon, though.
The Democrats are counting on Christopher Wright to pick up the 77th House seat this time around.

ReplyDeleteno "breach of peace"?
ReplyDeleteCan anyone say "sacrificial lamb"??
ReplyDeleteEvidently there will be no serious challange to Nicastro, just some future wrangling for position on the Republican town committee. These people put the term "rat" in "rat race".
ReplyDeletezzzzzz wake me up when it's over.
Jerome brings business experience, family values, and a new perspective to the 79th district. A much more compelling choice than Tax 'em Nicastro, who has never spent 1 day in the private sector his whole life.
ReplyDeleteJerome wasn't able to beat Diamantis, what makes him think he's going to have a better chance beating the almighty Nicastro?
ReplyDeleteGeladino is just out of his league.
If Ron decides to run then Wright will feel the pain of a loss also.
And the chic in Terryville running against Hamzy is just a plain joke. It's like Courtney Love running against Obama.
Joe, time to throw in the towel!
ReplyDeleteA clean sweep for the Ds.
The Rs are on a slippery slpoe.
Another 65% to 35% drubbing?
ReplyDeleteWhen Geladino wins, he will then run for Council next year, just like Nicastro.
ReplyDeleteI have heard that the District 1 Chairman will run against Wright if Ron does not run. He works at Aetna and has a ton friends with money. I cant remember his name...
ReplyDeletedream on 8:03
ReplyDeleteIt's about time the Rep. Party put up someone who's not afraid to speak! Enough with all the tax!
ReplyDeleteI'm voting for you Joe
I bet the people are sorry they didnt elect Gelidino for City Council. Look what they have instead. A union boy working for the unions.
ReplyDeleteNow perhaps people will vote for what's best for bristol....ALL OF BRISTOL...not just the unions!
Joe you've got my vote
The GOP needs to do a better job at finding candidates that will actually have a chance at winning.
ReplyDeleteWhere is Tim Lodge? He should be running against one of these guys. Not Geladino.
And Jerome is a 2 time loser which means that he will lose a 3rd time.
Not off on a very good foot GOP! Give us some candidates that have some credibility!!!!!
8:26 and just what is that ? Naysayer (hate monger)?
ReplyDeleteHaving a BIG mouth should not be the basis for selection as a candidate.
ReplyDeleteBesides, if Artie gives Joey a city job, he will capitulate. That is really what he is looking for!
May 14, 2008 5:51 PM
ReplyDeleteWhen you don't have the facts you should really shut your fat mouth. Nicastro spent a number of years with Pratt & Whitney and well over a decade working for John Hancock before he started his political career.
Now go crawl back into your imaginary world!
May 15, 2008 9:42 AM:
ReplyDeleteYou sound like an old lady (not to mention stupid) with your "naysayer" & "hatemonger" comments. Give it up.
Is Jerome a two time loser or a three time loser?
ReplyDelete1) 2000 = Jerome
2) 2002 = Jerome
3) 2004 = ?
4) 2006 = Raymond
Hate Monger, Naysayer . You got a problem with old ladies?
ReplyDeleteHey 8:26 Watch what you say about Unions . Wasn't or isn't Geladino a UAW member? You Hypocrite, Naysayer, Hatemonger
ReplyDeleteGO CRAZY JOE!
ReplyDeleteGO CRAZY JOE!
GO CRAZY JOE!
This is going to be fun.
The Grandstander vs The Heckler
May 15, 2008 4:47 PM:
ReplyDeleteI have a problem with imbeciles like you.
May 15, 2008 2:14 PM:
ReplyDeleteOh yes and he did this all while being the Truant Officer (who wanted to carry a gun)?
May 15, 2008 4:47 PM
ReplyDeleteYou have a problem with correct grammar (you're too stupid to understand how to use it).
Go Gelladino go Gelladino GO!!
9:52 You have a problem period!
ReplyDeleteto 8:34.....yep......people like you !!
ReplyDeleteThe Republican have met their goal: they now will have a full slate, which is better than last year.
ReplyDeleteNext they will be working on quality.
Why didn't Kenny Cockayne run against Colapietro?
ReplyDeleteGeladino, clean up your property on Main Street. Otherwise McCauley won't vote for you
ReplyDeleteCause he knows Geladino is the better man.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you ???
ReplyDeleteBecause the Republicans want Geladino.
ReplyDeleteWhen is Burns going to make up his mind?
ReplyDeleteSeems like he is leaving the Republican party in the lurch.
How will they find anybody at the last minute?
11:40 I guess you aren't worthmuch then .
ReplyDeleteTo 5:45 poster
ReplyDeleteWho can account for the Republican leaderships taste?
Of course, the record speaks for itself.
At least this time the MIGHT have a full slate.
GELADINO OWNS A FEW PLACES IN BRISTOL AND THEY ALL LOOK GOOD.
ReplyDeleteTALKING WITH JOE G HE SAID HE WILL BE RUNING FOR COUNCIL AND THIS TIME HE WILL WIN STRONG FOR THE TAX PAYERS AND HAS NO TIES TO THE CITY UNIONS.
ReplyDeleteKEN C NEEDS SOME SUPPORT AND GELADINO WILL BE ON HIS SIDE.
ReplyDelete4:18
ReplyDeleteCheck out Geladino on Main sStreet.
Thought he was running for Senate?
Ken needs help? Not according to him.
Prediction:
ReplyDeleteOnly Hamzy will get in.
Hey prediction you are usually wrong wanna put money on it ?
ReplyDeletewishful thinking is the predictor.
ReplyDeleteHow long before Geladino throws in the towel???
ReplyDeleteI think Joe is a good candidate. He might actually be competitive if he works hard and plays his cards right.
ReplyDeleteGeek: Are you serious????
ReplyDeleteHe got buried last time: do you think he will do better than Bev?
Is Barnes going to have Geladino quit one of his jobs so he can help people? If not where is he going to find the time to be a full time builder and work for another industry in Newington ?
ReplyDeleteIs he still looking for a job with the city?
ReplyDeleteMay 19 6:11 is looking better every day.
ReplyDelete5:29 another dreamer !
ReplyDeleteWrong prediction mean nothing anonymously . We know your hoping. We also know you can't win .
ReplyDeleteJoe must be serious, it loks like he is cleaning up his Main Street property.
ReplyDeleteAt least we will get something out of his campaign.
4:34
ReplyDeleteStill is a mess. He has a long way to go!
Kevin, where are you???
Do you really think there will be any thing left for the unions, police, city workers, anyone. CT is billions of dollars in debt. Say goodbye to your retirement unions bye bye. I come from a State that they did just that and took all and you are in worse shape. I am here for work and living with my friend.
