Today’s meeting of the Five-Year Capital Improvement Committee wasn’t anything earth-shattering.
Mayor Art Ward said the panel agreed to fund projects that state projects money would cover and then tabled the rest of the potential projects for the moment.
“We’re not up against the wall,” Ward said, and members wanted to review the minutes of last year’s session before taking action this time around.
He said the next meeting will likely be in about a week.

Whats up someone is starting to see things are bad thank you for small favors.
ReplyDeleteWho died and left Glen Klocko King of the Finance Committee?
ReplyDeleteSay what you will about me, but spell my name right. It's "Glenn" not Glen.
ReplyDeleteAs De Facto Town Manager, Klocko heads up the BOF.
ReplyDeleteAfter all, if Ward takes orders from Klocko, why shouldn't Meize?
Klocko's job is to give his best advice. It's up to the mayor, City Council and Board of Finance whether to take that advice or not. They make the decision, not Klocko.
ReplyDeleteKlocko certainly understands his role. I'm not sure, though, that everyone posting here does.
Steve is right, and shame on the elected officials for leaning on Klocko so much. He is proof that we need a City Manager - an experienced professional who sees Bristol as a vibrant, complex community (not just a budget) whom the Mayor and City Council can turn to for advice.
ReplyDeleteGlen may know what his role is, but he sure steps outside the parameters on a regular basis.

ReplyDeleteMaybe when the city council stopped appointing people to the BOF who were competent and had the time to handle all the city's multi-million dollar budgets?.
Glenn...I think you do a great job.
I have an idea. How about an Economic Development Director who can market the city, be our representative to corporations and take the lead in bringing Bristol to a bright bountiful future?
ReplyDeleteLike someone with strong connections to the business community and an ability to get to corporate types.
Oh, that's right. Waterbury got laughed at for hiring John Rowland.
We did the intelligent thing and reappointed Rosenthal.
Oops, I just threw up in the back of my throat again.
AAAAGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
Steve likes Glen because Glen feeds him stories.
ReplyDeleteActually, Klocko answers my questions. He's rarely gone much beyond that. Many, many insiders are more gossipy than he is.
ReplyDeleteWhat else would one expect Steve to say?
ReplyDeleteMy best sources never appear in print. :)

ReplyDeleteYou can thank Art Ward for that.
Our baggage is another mans treasure.

ReplyDeleteBristol would be lucky if it could do economic development like Waterbury. Case in point: The Naugatuck Mall demolition and redevelopment...$0 tax payer money spent on that project. Amazing!
How will this affect the West End Study, the Firehouse Study, the new City Hall, and all the other projects Ward is espousing?
ReplyDeleteWill he do as Nicastro did, and he went along with, reduce support for infrastructure maintainance?
Be nice if we heard from him as to his thoughts.
Oh Crap ...... Now Bristol won't be able to buy another PRIVATE ENTERPRISE and tear it down . :-(
ReplyDeleteMr. Klocka, if I made $120,000./yr., plus benefits of about $50,000., I woulf not be overly concerned how you spelled my name, except to get it correct on my paycheck.
ReplyDeleteI heard Glen was pissed that they tabled it, and did not give in to his railroading efforts. Guess his stranglehold on Bristol officials is weaker than he thought.

The City is good for wanting to build buildings, they are slow, however, on understanding the maintenance that is truly involved in keeping up the buildings.
ReplyDeleteDid GLen start pouting?
ReplyDeleteWhoever challenged him should be very careful.
I have noticed a guy on this blog but does not pay property taxes in bristol. He is a union boy and wants to watch bristol bottom out. It wont take long just watch and see.
ReplyDeleteThank God for Glen Clocko.
ReplyDeleteGlen Klocko thinks he is God.
ReplyDeleteWhere is Klocko, on another fishing trip?
