So I guess when a group of concerned conservatives get together I should assume they have a plan to screw up the country in mind.

Or perhaps such assumptions like yours reinforce the need to have a newspaper in a community. Ignorance is not always bliss.

-------------------------------AnonymousWestconnStudenthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04025706063052738273noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8811616037332448221.post-19165445145334737602008-12-07T19:59:00.000-05:002008-12-07T19:59:00.000-05:00Steve,In all due respect, while I do not want the ...Steve,

In all due respect, while I do not want the Press to close and empathize with you personally, having gone through several cycles of corporate downsizing, the fundamental problems of the Press are not new and are not unique. Nor are they readily soluble.

The newspaper industry has been in decline for years. Afternoon newspapers have disappeared (remember the Hartford Times - closed 1976) and many small town / city daily and weeklies have shut their doors. It is now catching up to places like Bristol.

There are many reasons for this. TV and radio were once offered as explanations. Today's proferred reason is the internet. Maybe. But does it really matter? Even if the immediate problems were solved, do you really believe that Bristol Press is, in the long term, viable?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8811616037332448221.post-13123812684076826042008-12-07T19:46:00.000-05:002008-12-07T19:46:00.000-05:00To be fair Steve, when a group of Legislators get ...To be fair Steve, when a group of Legislators get together to discuss the trials and tribulations of anyone or anything, one has good reason to assume these Legislators have a tax-payer funded expenditure in mind. In this case it apparently is a group of Democrats which makes a spending scheme all the more likely.Concerned Constructive Conservativehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13369681105636203099noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8811616037332448221.post-73732997438346108862008-12-07T19:26:00.000-05:002008-12-07T19:26:00.000-05:00Not very politically correct, 6:33.Not very politically correct, 6:33.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8811616037332448221.post-7082232057407947062008-12-07T18:33:00.000-05:002008-12-07T18:33:00.000-05:00How does a retard like Kevin Rennie get these kind...How does a retard like Kevin Rennie get these kinds of jobs?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8811616037332448221.post-75957465651620576952008-12-07T18:30:00.000-05:002008-12-07T18:30:00.000-05:00It is actually about the Tribune company trying to...It is actually about the Tribune company trying to avoid having to file for bankruptcy.Steve Collinshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06316108296993240817noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8811616037332448221.post-28221608708422085842008-12-07T18:22:00.000-05:002008-12-07T18:22:00.000-05:00New York Times has a piece tonight on the Hartford...New York Times has a piece tonight on the Hartford Courant's parent company filing for bankruptcy ...

http://dealbook.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/12/07/tribune-hires-bankruptcy-advisers/index.html?hpAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8811616037332448221.post-25195165172416570692008-12-07T15:29:00.000-05:002008-12-07T15:29:00.000-05:00Malkin's a twit and both the Courant and Republica...Malkin's a twit and both the Courant and Republican have enough problems of their own without playing "armchair quarterback" for the press and herald.

Steve, you should send this into those papers for their op-ed page b/c it's right on the money.

The cost to our communities is worth far more than the monetary value of the papers.

Nobody is looking for a bailout just a buyer. That is a BIG difference.

And it says something about the people who represent us that they would work to find someone to purchase the newspapers when not having a newspaper report their activities would be much more convienent for any politician.AnonymousWestconnStudenthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04025706063052738273noreply@blogger.com
