The people are grateful, but you don't hear much about that unless you know some one who has served there.

Any time you take a stand you make enemies. But dislike of the US is pretty much based on jealousy, IMHO.

Unfortunately, Obama's lack of experience will make us vulnerable. I guess that one refers the "facts" about Obama's birth certificate. He was born in the USA. McCain by the way was born in Panama.

"He may end up leaning much more to the conservative side"

That was the whole point of my first post. Pandering to the far right is what cost Mc Cain the election. He built his whole career around being a maverick, bucking the far right when his moderate principles dictated, to the point that the republican party, including talking heads like Limbaugh actively campaigned against his nomination. Once he got the nomination, there was no need to attract more republican voters, I don't think a single republican would ever cross over to the democrats. He needed to appeal to independents, instead he alienated them with his pick of Palin. That contributed greatly to his loss.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8811616037332448221.post-24973893013281082822008-11-09T18:48:00.000-05:002008-11-09T18:48:00.000-05:00McCain's speech WAS terrific. His bad judgements (I'm being generous here) concerning who his friends and associates are, and his hatred of our Constitution are okay? His wife's thesis statements are okay? His desire for his own civilian police force (like Hitler's) is okay? Voters slept through this campaign, and we will be suffering for four years.

Hopefully, if we are allowed to have an election in 2012, Sarah Palin will be back, offering her real American ideals, hard work, and traditional values. His decision to pick ultra-neocon end-timer Sarah Palin was foolish, he already had the nomination and no republican was going to crossover and vote democrat no matter what. The decision to pick an attractive woman wasn't a bad idea per-se, but once she opened her mouth she chased awayj ust about every independent voter with half a brain.
