Ward wants Fuller to serve as next acting mayor

When city councilors meet Tuesday, Mayor Art Ward won’t be there.
But the mayor did help set the agenda, pick new appointees to city boards and select a new acting mayor.
Ward said that he wants city Councilor Kevin Fuller to take the acting mayor role starting that night,
The first-term Democrat can help, Ward said, by filling in for him at many of the social events that he would normally attend but can’t during his recuperation.
Ward said that he’s happy with the job that Republican city Councilor Ken Cockayne did in his two months on the job, including the long period since the mayor’s Dec. 4 collapse.
Ward said that he wants Fuller to serve as acting mayor next because his Board of Education computer job offers a lot of flexibility and it’s right in town.
That allows Fuller to go to functions and perform other duties more easily than it would be for other councilors, Ward said.
Ward said that when he returns to work in the mayor’s office in a few weeks, he’ll probably put in half days for a while.  Click here for full story

This is the "leader" of Bristol? I guess anythings better than McCauley.

One of Streifer/O'Brien's cronies. Is it any wonder?

McCauley would do a better job being a third-term councilor not to mention he has a flexible job. No surprise that McCauley was looked over, though. Ward's done that since day one. I suppose it doesn't really matter. Ward will probably be back in Feb.

This is Fuller's reward for giving the Republicans (Cockayne, Krawiecki, and Nelson) cover for their screwing of Kate Matthews. Don't spend your thirty pieces of silver all in one place, Kevin. You're gonna need them.

-A "flexible job"? MORE LIKE AN INFLEXIBLE JOB!

1) public employees...totally one way and inflexible towards anything that does not adhere to a policy which gives more for them.

2) A fire-fighter: Thta's supposed to be a difficult and dangerous job, hardly somethng I'd call flexible

3) His there terms of experience are a disgrace.

Fuller is the best and most obvious choice. He's got the most flexible schedule. McCauley would have to take time off at the city's expense and Matthews hasn't been able to make more than a handful of meetings at best.

Once again, Ward's looking out for what's best for Bristol. It'll be great to have him back at the helm.

Typical Ward; If one challenges him, disagrees with him, or opposes him, well you se the result.

Politics at it's worst

motyPeec7:05 This blog is typical Republican politics . Hate anything unless it's a republican. That's politics as usual. "same ol same ol."

Typical stupid comment: If you're laid up on the sidelines after a serious accident, would you want to work with someone who disagrees and opposes you, or would you like things to run as smoothly as possible until your return?

Keeping Bristol on an even keel...politics at its best.

Ward was like that even before the choking incident, Even as a councilman.

Is he afraid to justify his position?

Anonymous said...

Or unable to???

Anonymous said...

10:06 AM: Why does he need to justify his position?

Anonymous said...

11:00

Because he was elected by us to reflect and listen to the will of the people.

If he can't explain and justify his decisions then he shouldn't be in office.

11:39: No one is asking for an explanation or justification... except for YOU that is. His decision makes sense to the rest of us.

WARD has only worked for the unions and not for the tax payers. He doug a big hole this time. HEARD DOESNT WANT TO GET BACK. He may have to do his job.

Ward has a bunch of union flunkies on the blog covering for him

Speaking of big holes...

If you truly believe that then you have serious awareness problems.

Do you ever go out into the community and LISTEN????

Anonymous said...

3:29 PM: Actually, I do get out into the community quite frequently, and I listen. Other than yourself and a handful of disgruntled dems who were hoping to get their hands on the reins, everyone seems just fine with the decision to let Mr. Fuller (a fellow dem) serve until the Mayor's return. Unlike Mr. McCauley, who would have to take time off from his important position as a city firefighter, or Ms. Matthews, whose busy schedule hardly allows her time to attend meetings, Mr. Fuller has a flexible schedule and will fit the bill nicely until the Mayor's return sometime within the next few weeks.

I sense that your self-righteous indignation is more about some past perceived wrong done to you by Mr. Ward than about concern over who's in charge for the next few weeks. Sounds like a personal problem.

Everyone here agrees that Fuller is Art Ward's ally, while fellow Democrats McJerky and Queen Kate are his political adversaries.

Judging by the alumni that have occupied the mayor position, one need not be an intellectual or a professional manager to perform the necessary tasks of the job.

Art Ward has every right to appoint who he wants to occupy the seat that Art Ward was elected to hold until he (Ward) is able to be back on the job.

Sounds like Fuller has a nice cushy city job where he can make his own hours.

Kevin Fuller presumably has a full time job at the BOE (he's drawing a full time salary). Kevin McCauley, on the other hand, is on limited duty with the FD and they are probably running out of things for him to do over there. So how can it be better for the City to have Fuller spend hours doing the mayor's job, and not McCauley? This doesn't pass the smell test.

11:17 PM: Kinda taking a leap there aren't you? "They're probably running out of things for him to do over there"? Are you insinuating that McCauley is just collecting a paycheck while killing time? Even if he only works part time, wouldn't he have to be replaced by an on call fire fighter? Wouldn't that come out of the City's pocket?

Sorry, but I've heard that Fuller's got the most flexible schedule. He's perfectly capable of doing the job and he's the mayor's choice anyway, so what's the problem?

The only thing that doesn't pass the "smell test" here is your reasoning and attitude...once again, sounds like a personal problem. Good luck with that.

McCauley is on limited duty for slipping on ice? And it's been for how long now, 2 years? Sounds like gold-bricking to me.

People like him is why this state and this coluntry are going broke.

5:37: What is the disgrace? Please list them. It is inaccurate to make self-serving, totally incorrect statements. Your comment on number one leads me to believe you are a republican. He is part of a union because he has to be being a fire fighter. No. 2: what does having a hard and dangerous job have anything to do with being flexible? Their schedule is on for three days and then off.and then on for three nights and then off. I've already addressed no. 3 so come up with some proof and people might actually listen to your rantings.

McCauley is Milking the System: The mayor hates him, the chief hates him, he lives in a fishbowl, and you think he's goldbricking? It's jackasses like you that drive people away from public service.

Keep up the good work said...

Driving morons like Kevin McCauley from "public service" (for him, it's self-service) is a good thing.
